President-elect Donald Trump's return to the White House has sent ripples through global financial markets, with many investors looking to recalibrate their portfolios for a dramatically different policy landscape ahead. Higher Treasury yields mean higher interest rates for corporate borrowers. Trump's tariffs Perhaps the biggest concern for investors globally is Trump's campaign promise of aggressive new tariffs , including the potential for a universal 10% tariff on all imports and a 60% tariff on Chinese goods. However, some Asian nations might benefit if higher tariffs on China prompt manufacturers to relocate. Europe Most analysts agree that U.S. trade tariffs are likely to hurt Europe, with some companies able to navigate the challenges better than others.

Andrew Garfield debuts an unusual red carpet accessory

CNN —Last night, British actor Andrew Garfield arrived at the London Film Festival premiere of his latest film “We Live in Time” sporting a surprising accessory. Wedged under his arm like a beloved clutch bag on a night out, Pugh’s rigid two-dimensional form topped off Garfield’s outfit perfectly. His black leather Valentino loafers matched his belt, but Garfield wasn’t complete without his 5 foot 4 inches of cardboard. At various points along the red carpet, he gleefully set Pugh down, posing with an arm wrapped around her inanimate waist. His custom Valentino outfit was somewhat overshadowed by his 5 foot 4 inch long cardboard cutout.

The filing further alleges that Richard witnessed Combs “brutally beat” his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, including instances where Richard claims to have seen Combs choke, strangle, slap, punch and strike Venture with objects. “On many occasions, Ms. Richard tried to intervene, offering Ms. Ventura support and encouragement to leave Mr. Combs,” the claim states. Combs was seen earlier this year in a 2016 video published by CNN grabbing, shoving, dragging and kicking Ventura. As promised, this week’s newsletter has been designed as a monument to late-stage capitalism, in that the writing of it has largely been outsourced, but I am still taking credit for it. There are two issues, however, that arose perhaps a little too late in soccer’s month of festivities but which nevertheless warrant our attention. The first is the departure of Gareth Southgate after eight years as England manager, a period in which he not only achieved the sort of success which would have looked like a golden age to most of his predecessors, but managed to do so while also largely embracing the absurd political and social expectations the country places on the role.

Southgate stepped up from the U21s to take charge of the senior side following Sam Allardyce's abrupt exit in September 2016 and guided England to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup. The 53-year-old had been Three Lions boss for eight years and exits the role after a fourth major tournament in charge. The former England defender then led his side to the final of Euro 2020 - which they lost on penalties to Italy at Wembley - before a quarter-final exit at the 2022 World Cup. His final tournament in charge was this summer, as England were edged out 2-1 by Spain in the final. England became the first team in the history of the European Championships to lose consecutive finals.

Trump 2.0 could be bad news for global inflation, analysts say

Brendan Smialowski | Afp | Getty ImagesA second presidential term for former President Donald Trump could reignite global inflation as his America-first policies drive up costs across the world, analysts warned. "The level of inflation is higher, inflation expectations are higher, and we're still in this inflation mindset." A recent poll of economists suggested, however, that the majority see inflation ticking higher under Trump due to his hard-line protectionist stance. watch nowThat higher inflation could spill over into Asia, too, Nomura's Gareth Nicholson said in a note to CNBC. In Europe, Goldman Sachs predicted in a Friday note that a Trump presidency could add a 0.1 percentage point increase to inflation as higher tariffs weigh on global trade.
