I’m still waiting to wake up and realize that it was all a dream: the debate, the attempted assassination, President Biden’s Rehoboth reckoning, the quicksilver ascent of Vice President Kamala Harris. I have teachers texting and calling me from out of state who have never donated to a political candidate asking how to do it the right way to ensure it gets to the Harris campaign. It feels very “hopey changey.” I tuned in (along with hundreds of thousands of others) to watch Harris speak to the staff at campaign headquarters and walked away inspired. The transition from Biden to Harris has been remarkably seamless and successful. Her initial remarks on Monday were strong, powerful and clearly her own words, not things cribbed from the previous campaign.

“Veep,” HBO’s merciless satire of Washington politics, went out with a gleeful whimper in 2019, a casualty of the Trump presidency. “We felt we couldn’t keep up with that,” Frank Rich, an executive producer of the series, said on Monday. The internet was suddenly rife with “Veep” clips, GIFs and fancams. “Was the HBO show ‘Veep’ just a documentary filmed in the past about the future?” one post read. “Now we know what HBO’s ‘Veep’ writers were doing during the strike,” read another.

And he was staggering toward an increasingly ugly revolt within it or a potentially harrowing defeat by Donald Trump. It misses the bigness of what Biden just did — its historical rarity, its emotional agony, its fundamental humility. (“I’m getting so frustrated by the elites.” “Look at the crowds.”) But that doesn’t erase the enormous impact and extraordinary example of relinquishing his candidacy. Maybe his endorsement of Kamala Harris and the vice president’s traditional status as heir apparent will amount to her speedy anointment. She has doubters aplenty, and many prominent Democrats crave a real competition, not a segue from obligatory indulgence of Biden to forced allegiance to Harris.

Bob Newhart, who burst onto the comedy scene in 1960 working a stammering Everyman character not unlike himself, then rode essentially that same character through a long, busy career that included two of television’s most memorable sitcoms, died on Thursday at his home in Los Angeles. Mr. Newhart wasn’t merely unknown a few months before his emergence as a full-fledged star; he was barely in the business, though he had aspirations. In 1959, some comic tapes he had made to amuse himself while working as an accountant in Chicago caught the ear of an executive at Warner Bros. As is clear, that objective is considerably higher than the 2021 peak, which was the last time IWM made a new all-time high. The obvious question then would be this: If IWM does, in fact, make a new all-time high, what happens next? First, notice how well the IWM/SPX relative line performed as it rallied from a key low to a peak since 2011. Conversely, during the three times that IWM has broken out to new highs in absolute terms, the IWM/SPX relative line has declined soon thereafter. In fact, the relative line has been diverging from IWM for 13 years and hasn't made a higher high since 2011.

Shares of Nordea Bank , the Finnish lender, have been labeled "too cheap to ignore" by investment bank Berenberg. Net interest income – earned through the differences in rates offered to savers and borrowers — grew 7% year-on-year to 3.86 billion euros. "Trading on only 7.5x our [financial year] 2025 earnings — an 8% premium to the sector — we think Nordea is too cheap to ignore. However, the Berenberg analyst believes that Nordea's net interest income is relatively resilient, noting that "the market still underappreciates Nordea's [net interest income] stability, in our view, which contrasts favourably to that of more rate-sensitive Nordic peers." The analyst also said that recent challenges, including a slight miss on second-quarter net interest income expectations or a modest cost increase, should not deter investors.
