The CEO of Dubai Airports is bullish on the future and expects passenger traffic to surge to a record this year and top 100 million by 2027. Dubai Airports is the owner and manager of both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). "Those three reasons, suggests we are on for a record year — 91 million forecasts for the end of 2024," he told CNBC's "Capital Connection" on Tuesday. "We expect by 2027, to be topping the 100 million passenger mark. The number of international travellers reached 21.1 million in 2023, up from 19.2 million in 2022, the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) said in a report on Sunday. But since then, traffic has plunged, culminating in a 78% drop in November and 71% dive in December, the IAA said. Ryanair was third with a 5.4% share, although its number of passengers dipped 12% in 2023. In 2023, 3 million tourists visited Israel, up from 2.7 million in 2022.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Long-haul carrier Emirates said Thursday it will purchase 15 additional Airbus A350-900s worth $6 billion after a spat between the airline and the European manufacturer went unusually public during this week's Dubai Air Show. On Tuesday, Emirates President Tim Clark signaled the carrier would hold off on a major purchase of Airbus A350 aircraft over concerns about the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines on the 350-1000. A statement issued by Emirates that also quoted Airbus did not mention the engine dispute, but the airline and the manufacturer notably did not hold a news conference at the Dubai Air Show to discuss the purchase. Airbus discontinued its iconic double-decker A380, which is one of the main workhorses of Emirates' fleet. “With this agreement, we mark another solid step forward in the long-standing relationship agreement between Emirates and Airbus,” Airbus Chief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer said in the statement.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Officials from Afghanistan's ruling Taliban on Wednesday welcomed the resumption of FlyDubai flights to Kabul's international airport two years after stopping service following the collapse of the Western-backed government. All international airlines halted flights to Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in mid-August 2021 as U.S. and NATO forces departed after two decades of war. FlyDubai, the sister carrier of long-haul airline Emirates, now will make two flights a day to Kabul. In May last year, the Taliban signed a deal allowing an Emirati company to manage three airports in Afghanistan. Nov 13 (Reuters) - Shares of Boeing (BA.N) rose on Monday after a report said China was considering ending its freeze on purchases of the planemaker's best-selling 737 MAX aircraft after more than four years. This, coupled with bumper jet orders from Middle Eastern airlines at the Dubai Airshow, sent Boeing shares up 4%. China is considering resuming purchases of Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft when the U.S. and Chinese presidents meet this week at the APEC summit, Bloomberg News reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. Deliveries of Boeing's bestselling 737 MAX to Chinese airlines were halted following two deadly crashes. Boeing shares have underperformed S&P 500 in 2023Boeing shares were trading at $205.15, compared with analysts' current median price target of $250, according to LSEG data.

The world's largest international carrier also added five more Boeing 787s to an existing order, saying the total package of new widebody jets was worth over $50 billion at list prices. The 777X order includes 55 of the 400-seat 777-9 variant and 35 of the smaller 777-8, he told a news conference. RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — “Your final destination is Tel Aviv?”I’ve been a reporter in the Middle East since 1979, and those are six words I’d never heard in the place where I was standing about the place where I was going. I was checking in to fly from Doha, Qatar, to Tel Aviv, via Dubai. My first instinct was to ask her: Could you please keep your voice down? Now the airport codes DIA, DXB and TLV were fused together on my luggage for all to see. A few days later, I hopscotched to three more cities that suddenly seemed closer than ever: early breakfast in Tel Aviv; lunch in Amman, Jordan; and late dinner in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh.
