Record numbers of travelers have been flooding airports since the pandemic, but U.S. airlines now face a surplus of empty seats after racing to add capacity. “Deals are easier to find this summer since prices are already so low,” said Hayley Berg, lead economist at the travel booking site Hopper. For clients with a little flexibility in their travel dates, I’ve been able to get very low airfare for last-minute trips. Ashley D’Aristotile, owner of Flyaway TravelThe discounts expand the map for late-season travelers and coincide with a broader value push this summer. The convening of a Marine Board of Investigation is the highest level of investigation conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard, Neubauer said. Investigators are working closely with other national and international investigative authorities, including the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the French marine casualties investigation board and the United Kingdom Marine Accident Investigation Branch, Neubauer added. The Coast Guard board can make recommendations to prosecutors to pursue civil or criminal sanctions as necessary. The Coast Guard led the initial search and rescue mission, a massive international effort that likely cost millions of dollars. "The Coast Guard doesn't charge for search and rescue nor do we associate a cost with human life," said Rear Adm. John Mauger, of the Coast Guard First District.

But the crew had only a four-day oxygen supply when the vessel, called the Titan, set off around 6 a.m. Sunday. The banging on Tuesday first came every 30 minutes and was heard again four hours later, according to an internal government memo update on the search. The search for the missing submersible Titan has broadened to an area about two times the size of Connecticut. It was unclear when exactly the banging was heard Tuesday or how long it lasted, based on the memo. We have to keep working until we find the submersible,” Joyce Murray, minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, told reporters Wednesday. If the submersible is intact, the passengers would be dealing with dwindling oxygen levels and fighting cold, he told CNN.

Yes, Dyson’s Supersonic Hair Dryer Is Actually Worth It
  + stars: | 2023-06-15 | by ( Tom Vanderbilt | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +3 min
By Tom VanderbiltI had, for the record, no interest in buying a $430 hair dryer. I had, in fact, no interest in buying a hair dryer at all. I thought, for a moment, it was a phone; then, given its placement next to the sink, I realized it was a hair dryer: the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. We live in an area with particularly hard water which, even after softening, sometimes leaves our hair looking a bit dull. But I didn’t really buy a hair dryer.
