CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday walked investors through next week's market action, highlighting the Federal Reserve's next meeting and earnings from Super Micro Computer. Despite the slew of earnings next week, Cramer said the presidential election will steal Wall Street's attention. Tuesday marks election day, and the polls remain deadlocked between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Cramer called Super Micro Computer's report "the most intriguing story" next week as shares declined recently when the tech company's auditor, Ernest & Young, resigned. The Fed will issue its decision on interest rates Thursday, and Cramer said the central bank needs to make a cut.

LONDON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Shell (SHEL.L) is suing Greenpeace for $2.1 million in damages after the environmental group's activists boarded the company's oil production vessel in transit at sea this year, according to Greenpeace and a document seen by Reuters. Greenpeace activists boarded the vessel in January near the Canary Islands off the Atlantic coast of northern Africa to protest oil drilling and travelled on it as far as Norway. Boarding a moving vessel at sea was "unlawful and extremely dangerous," a Shell spokesperson said. Four Greenpeace activists used ropes to hoist themselves onto the vessel from inflatable boats that chased the ship at high speed. Protests at sea against oil, gas or mining infrastructure have long been part of Greenpeace's operations.

SOELDEN, Austria (AP) — Norway's Ragnhild Mowinckel left the finish area of the season-opening women's World Cup race in tears Saturday after becoming the first skier to be disqualified for a forbidden type of wax on her skis. A rule in effect this season forbids the use of fluorinated wax in the pre-race preparation of skis. FIS banned the substance from its competitions after years of debate about the potential harm fluorinated wax can cause to health and the environment. We are not trying to cheat, because that is the worst thing for me,” Mowinckel told Norwegian broadcaster TV 2. Peter Gerdol, the women's race director of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, said all skis were tested for the banned substance after both runs.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) report published this week revealed that a growing volume of renewable energy generation is being stalled as developers wait for projects to be connected to national electricity grids. Since the report's release on Monday, share prices of companies engaged in building electric grids, or with products and services tied to grid modernisation, have outperformed firms that are focused on renewable energy generation. The share prices of certain firms that hold these particular skill or product sets have seen signs of heightened buying interest this week since the IEA report was published, indicating that some investors may be already placing bets that grid specialist firms may be primed for growth going forward. Germany's E.ON (EONGn.DE), which has a major energy networks division, is up roughly 17% this year, LSEG data shows. Firms that develop smart meters and other grid management tools are also expected to see growth in demand for their services by power companies.

The biggest week of this earnings season showed us that things aren't as bad as many feared. The week ahead of earnings, including several more Club names, should tell us more. The results are always important, but it's the guidance and management commentary we will really hone in on to better understand the path ahead. In Amazon's case, a solid first quarter for its AWS cloud business was overshadowed by management seeing a material slowdown in April. ET: Nonfarm Payrolls Looking back It was the biggest week of this earnings season for the Club as several of our mega-cap holdings and industry bellwethers reported results.
But the Oracle of Omaha has missed out on this year’s stock market rally. Buffett, in fact, has promoted that idea to investors many times, arguing that most individual stock pickers will not be able to beat the market. And to his credit, that usually pays dividends: Berkshire stock was up 3% last year in a down market. “High rates of inflation create a tax on capital that makes much corporate investment unwise,” Buffett said in his 1980 shareholder letter to Berkshire investors. Investors will get several more clues about consumer spending this week when several top retailers report earnings.
The coming week is also the busiest of the corporate earnings season, with about a third of the S & P 500 companies releasing results. "Historically, the market waits for the last Fed rate hike to be introduced and then the market climbs higher. The S & P 500 was up more than 8.8% for the month. The Dow was up 5.7% on the week, the S & P 500 was up 5.7% and the Nasdaq was up 2.2%. The 50-day moving average is 3,841 for the S & P 500, and it was well above it Friday afternoon for the second time in the past week.
