By corporate America's (sometimes dubious) telling, AI is basically the answer to everything, including customer service. A recent Gartner survey found that nearly two-thirds of customers prefer that companies don't use AI for customer service. Related storiesEven setting aside the cost savings for companies, there are clear reasons that AI should be a good fit for customer service. "We know that there are certain aspects of customer service that AI is doing well. What's more, if every company has a mediocre AI experience, the bar might just be lowered across the board.

Kenny McPeek is as close to a Renaissance man as horse racing has to offer. He has amassed a real estate portfolio that stretches from Kentucky and Florida to this heavenly corner of upstate New York. McPeek has more than a dozen horses that have made millions of dollars on the racetrack, but his masterpiece is Curlin. He bought Curlin for $57,000, and the horse went on to earn more than $10.5 million on the track and was twice named Horse of the Year. On Saturday, in the 155th running of the Travers Stakes, McPeek will try something as daring as it is old school.

King Charles III takes the reins at Royal Ascot

London CNN —Arriving in a horse-drawn open carriage, King Charles III and Queen Camilla attended Royal Ascot in style this week. “We wish all the participants this week the very best of luck in seeking that unique thrill of a Royal Ascot winner.”Last year’s Royal Ascot saw an unlikely win for Charles, with his horse, Desert Hero, overcoming odds of 18 to 1 to land first place. This love of horses has bound together multiple generations of the royal family, from the time of Queen Anne in the 18th century, when Royal Ascot was created, to the present day. Queen Elizabeth II and John Warren cheer on her horse Estimate to win the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on June 20, 2013. If you’ve seen “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the 1975 movie spoof of all things Arthurian and many things not, you know the coconuts I mean. And if you’re enough of a Python fan to have also seen “Spamalot,” the 2005 Broadway musical “lovingly ripped off” from the film, you’ve probably memorized the whole bit. That’s the one in which Arthur’s trusted patsy, Patsy, slaps coconut halves together so the deluded king can pretend he has a horse. Among many others, so are a troupe of self-flagellating monks, a cart of corpses, a vulgar French taunter and a Trojan rabbit. This one, directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, gives the “ni”-sayers what they want.

The remains of Ruffian, the Hall of Fame racehorse whose triumphant run in the 1970s was tragically cut short by an injury in a notorious race that led to her being euthanized, were reburied on Thursday in Kentucky, the filly’s birthplace. Ruffian is considered perhaps the greatest female thoroughbred in history and went undefeated in 10 starts, setting stakes or track records in most of them. She had been buried at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y., since her ill-fated race on July 6, 1975, when the 3-year-old filly raced Foolish Pleasure, the winner of that year’s Kentucky Derby. Ruffian shattered her right front ankle in the race, and she was later put down by injection and buried in Belmont’s infield, 70 yards beyond the finish line. The race and Ruffian’s injury captured national attention, and her burial site had for decades been a place to honor one of the most celebrated racing horses in history.

Horse racing-Kentucky Derby favourite Forte scratched from race

Mandatory Credit: Albert Cesare-USA TODAY SportsMay 6 (Reuters) - Early favourite Forte has been scratched from the Kentucky Derby hours before post time for the first leg of U.S. thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown due to concerns about a bruised front foot, Churchill Downs said on Saturday. The Todd Pletcher-trained dark bay colt had brought a five-race win streak to the 1-1/4-mile Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs and was installed as the early 3-1 favourite. The decision to scratch Forte, who appeared to stumble during a gallop earlier in the week, was made by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission state veterinarian. Forte was the fifth horse to scratch from Saturday's race, joining Practical Move, Lord Miles, Continaur and Skinner. The last time five horses were scratched from the Kentucky Derby was 1936 when 19 horses entered the race and 14 ran.
