When Omarni Webb decided she wanted to get a master's degree, she was determined not to go into debt. Webb completed a master's degree in marketing in Sweden and later worked as a data analyst. I figured that having a master's degree would give me an edge because I would know how to design clothes and market them. I looked at Columbia and New York University but soon realized that I couldn't afford to go to either, even if I got accepted. I had gotten through college with no debt and wanted to do the same for my master's degree.

This is the eighth lawsuit against Combs since November – the seventh directly accusing him of sexual assault. Another lawsuit accused his son Christian Combs of sexual assault, and Sean Combs is accused of aiding and abetting. Lampros claims that Combs raped her after she “pleaded with Mr. Combs to stop.” “She was nude, sore, and confused” the next morning, according to the lawsuit. Claude Montana, the audacious and haunted French designer whose exquisite tailoring defined the big-shouldered power look of the 1980s — an erotic and androgenous tough chic that brought him fame and accolades until he was felled by drugs and tragedy in the ’90s — died on Friday in France. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode confirmed the death but not specify a cause or say where he died. “His clothes were fierce, with a power that was both militaristic and highly eroticized,” said Valerie Steele, director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. “It was not the American power look of the shoulder-padded executive. But while cheap chic may seem like the way to go, the fast fashion industry sees clothing pushed out on a scale that is even too large for most consumers to keep up with. Why is fast fashion so popular? Fast fashion accounts for “quick designs, quick manufacturing, quick marketing, quick retailing — it doesn’t leave the time to consider these bigger needs, like ethical considerations or rights of workers,” Osnes said. “The planet is on fire, and the truth is the fashion industry aids in a percentage of that.”Is ‘sustainable fashion,’ a viable alternative? The exhibition seeks to foreground Aghion at the brand, repositioning Chloé as a historically important fashion name and giving the museum a pop culture edge. Do you think this is a teachable moment about cultural preconceptions, an effort by the museum to reach a new audience, or both? The Jewish Museum has mounted art-historically important exhibitions, though as you say, infrequently about fashion (their first was a buoyant Isaac Mizrahi survey in 2016). But by her early 30s, Ms. Maldonado said, she had become uninspired by her career. In 2015, Ms. Maldonado, now 39, recalled thinking, “What if I start a modern gift shop?”Soon after, she started a website, Yowie, that sold housewares, like ceramic cups and bowls. (When considering names for the website, yowie, an Australian word synonymous with yeti or Bigfoot, emerged as a favorite and stuck.) Ms. Maldonado soon quit her job at American Eagle to focus on the business. Recently, she moved the store again, to a much bigger space on the ground floor of a new Yowie hotel designed and co-owned by Ms. Maldonado.

I started renting used clothes in January, saving me an average of $53 per month so far. Balancing my vanity with an awareness that I needed to budget more effectively, I started renting clothes from Nuuly — a sister company to Urban Outfitters — in January. It hasn't curbed my shopping habits as much as I predicted, but it has saved me money: I spend $53 less per month, on average. But I didn't start renting clothes for my self-esteem. Why I'll keep renting clothes — but not forever
She landed a stylist job on season 2 of 'Next in Fashion' after dropping out of fashion school. I wouldn't have been able to land my first major stylist job at New York Fashion Week if I had been at school. Three days later, he called and said he was on the New York Fashion Week calendar, and asked if I would style his show. These are a few models I styled for Nicholas Raefski’s Fall/Winter 2022 presentation at New York Fashion Week. I was allowed to make TikTok content on the Netflix set, as long as I didn't give away anything creatively.
Facial recognition software immediately identifies the man as … a giraffe? While there, she read about how tenants in Brooklyn had fought back against their landlord’s plans to install a facial recognition entry system for their building. “This was the first time I heard about facial recognition,” she says. Whichever route they took, they had to test the images on a well-known object detection system called YOLO, one of the most commonly-used algorithms in facial recognition software. At the recent World Cup in Qatar, creative agency Virtue Worldwide came up with flag-themed face paint for fans seeking to fool the emirate’s legion of facial recognition cameras.
J.Crew embarked on a comeback after filing for bankruptcy in the early months of the pandemic. But hype alone isn't enough: experts say the stores and product needed a revamp, and the brand is now on the right track. J.Crew has since placed a new CEO at the helm — Libby Wadle, who previously oversaw J.Crew's fast-growing sister brand, Madewell. "In our industry, it begins with product," Quan said. Quan said he's cautiously optimistic, saying that the product improvements hint that the brand is on the right track.
