LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday described American XL Bully dogs as a “danger to our communities” and announced plans to ban the breed following a public outcry after a series of recent attacks. Sunak said he has asked government ministers to bring together police and canine experts to legally define the characteristics of the American XL Bully, which is not recognized as a breed by groups such as the Kennel Club in Britain or the American Kennel Club in the United States. “The American XL Bully dog is a danger to our communities, particularly our children,’’ Sunak said. Some campaigners have called for the American XL Bully, which was originally bred from the American pit bull terrier, to be added to the list because they believe dangerous characteristics have been bred into the animals. The XL Bully is not recognized as a breed by the U.K.’s Kennel Club, which has argued that no breed of dog is inherently dangerous.

Victimele primului val de deportări staliniste, comemorate la ChișinăuVictimele celui primului val de deportări staliniste din 12-13 iunie 1941 au fost comemorate printr-un miting de doliu, care a avut loc duminică la Chișinău. Familia Valentinei Sturza a fost deportată împreună cu sora mamei sale și un frate. În memoria celor deportați a fost ținut un minut de reculegere. Potrivit premierului interimar Aureliu Ciocoi, pentru a reface pătura de intelectuali care a fost deportați, e nevoie de cel puțin trei generații, conform geneticienilor. „Fac apel către istorici, cred că lipsește pe acest soclu (referire la piatra Monumentului „Trenul durerii”) lista nominală a fiecărui moldovean care a devenit victimă NKVD-ului și a terorii bolșevice.

Maia Sandu a participat la evenimentul de comemorare a victimelor primului val de deportări din 1941. Consecințele acestei epurări politice și sociale le simțim și astăzi. La rândul său, Aureliu Ciocoi a declarat că e datoria tuturor să comemoreze victimele deportărilor. Fac un apel către istoricieni: cred că lipsește pe soclul ăsta lista nominală a fiecărui moldovean care a devenit victima NKVD-ului și a terorii bolșevicilor. De-a lungul anilor, Ziarul de Gardă a realizat zeci de articole, interviuri și materiale video cu și despre deportați.
