Conditions in southern Gaza have become so desperate that some civilians who fled there said they are now returning to the north , where bombing is more intense.
Feda Bassiouni, a 33-year-old mother, left her home in Gaza City and headed to southern Gaza on Saturday with her 2-year-old daughter, thinking they would be safer there.
But short of food and water, she said the search for refuge feels pointless and she is considering returning home.
“If we’re going to die anyway, I’d rather die in my own home,” she said.
“I don’t know if my house is still there, but I’m sure to find some of my daughter’s toys.”
