The Onion, the satirical news company that repeatedly spoofed conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, has won the bankruptcy auction for control over his media empire — most notably Infowars, the far-right, conspiracy-minded website that served as Jones’ primary online platform. The Onion plans to shutter Jones’ Infowars and rebuild the website featuring well-known internet humor writers and content creators, according to a person with knowledge of the sale. About an hour and a half after the announcement of the sale, Infowars' website was shut down. CNN —A “staggering array” of witches’ marks have been discovered on the walls of a Tudor property in England. News of the discovery, aptly timed to coincide with Halloween, was released by English Heritage, a charity that looks after hundreds of historic monuments, buildings and sites. These include a “staggering array” of designs, according to English Heritage, though there’s a notable concentration in the servants’ wing of the hall. Over the course of two years, long-time English Heritage volunteer Rick Berry discovered and mapped around 20 carvings at the Tudor property. In 2019, hundreds of witches’ marks were found scratched into the walls of an English cave system in the East Midlands, central England.

The Tennessee man charged with kidnapping and killing a kindergarten teacher during a morning run two years ago pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, officials said Monday. Cleotha Abston, 40, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, for the Sept. 2, 2022, murder of Eliza Fletcher, 34, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. Memphis Police DepartmentFletcher, a mother of two, had gone for a run near the University of Memphis when Abston forced her into his vehicle. Abston was linked to Fletcher's death through surveillance video and forensic evidence, the prosecutor’s office said. Abston’s lawyer, Juni Ganguli, said he had advised Abston to accept an agreement with prosecutors.
