CNN —In travel news this week: odd room service requests, the cruise passengers stranded for months at their departure port, plus how a rogue bag of Cheetos caused havoc in a New Mexico cave. Unusual guest requestsFar be it from us to say folks are getting a little entitled, but a new report from Hotels.com has revealed the oddest room service requests made to its hotel partners around the world. There’s the separate requests that were fielded for burnt toast, fresh goat milk and 2 kilos of bananas. And finally there’s the demand for a high-five from a team member to ensure their room service request was read. The nine-month itinerary of Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise was considerably less ambitious, but at least it successfully completed its journey this week.

Two Canadians died from infections caused by listeria after drinking popular milk substitutes based on almonds, oats, cashews and coconuts that were sold under the Silk and Great Value brands, the country’s health department said Wednesday night. Another 10 infections, most of them affecting residents of Ontario, have been confirmed by laboratory tests, the department, Health Canada, said in its health notice. But she said the plant is in Ontario and that none of the products were distributed outside of Canada. Because of Canada’s privacy laws, no personal information about the victims was released. The refrigerated plant-based products are sold in milk cartons and are viewed by some as a healthier alternative to cows’ milk.

Japan’s Ayaka Furue sank a dramatic, clutch putt for eagle on the final hole of the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship in France on Sunday to win by one stroke. Coming into the final hole, there was a three-way tie with Furue, Australian Stephanie Kyriacou and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit at -17. Furue calmly rolled in the eagle to cap a six-under final round to go 19-under for the tournament – one shot better than Kyriacou who birdied the final hole. She would birdie the hole and go on to win the title with a dramatic 18th hole eagle to win by a single stroke. The victory represents her second career victory on the LPGA Tour: Furue previously won the 2022 Women’s Scottish Open.

CNN —If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Or if you’re Amy Yang, try 75 times to win your first major – ending an almost two-decades wait – after the South Korean golfer survived a late scare to win the Women’s PGA Championship in Washington on Sunday. In 74 prior major starts, she had finished inside the top-10 on 21 outings, and twice as a runner-up at the US Women’s Open in 2012 and 2015. Stanford is the sole player to have waited longer for their first major than Yang, and only just: the American triumphed on her 76th attempt. “At one point I thought, ‘Will I ever win a major championship before I retire?’” Yang said.

REUTERS/Eric Gaillard/File photo Acquire Licensing RightsPARIS, Oct 26 (Reuters) - French food group Danone (DANO.PA) raised its 2023 revenue growth forecast after its third-quarter sales beat analysts' estimates, as higher prices helped offset lower volumes. Overall, Danone increased its prices by 6.6% during the quarter while sales volume declined 0.3%, a sequential improvement led by Essential Dairy and Plant-based. Danone, like its rivals Nestle (NESN.S) and Unilever (ULVR.L), has increased prices to cope with higher commodities and supply chain costs. Last week, Nestle (NESN.S) posted lower-than-expected nine-month sales growth as higher product prices made shoppers balk.

His masterful, theatrical buildups, full of relentless bass lines, pounding synths and prismatic arpeggios, blasted from the speakers as a single disco ball sparkled overhead. But Christ, born Joshua Leary, didn’t always know how to work a room like this. Most artists don’t drop their debut a decade after their breakthrough, but Christ, 34, has long chosen the unconventional path. His skill for that approach endeared him to ravers across the globe, in part because he has long been devoted to trance, an often-derided genre of dance music rooted in big climaxes and unabashed sentimentality. On “Revanchist” he leans into it at a critical moment in the sound’s bubbling comeback, making a statement about its relevance and power.

It is also the only women’s major played on the same course every year, the Evian Resort Golf Club in France, which has hosted the tournament for nearly 30 years. It’s been called quirky and unfair, and one player, Stacy Lewis, who is a major champion, skipped it for two years.
