Colin Gray, the father of alleged Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges related to the mass shooting in September at Apalachee High School that killed four people. Attorneys for Colin Gray appeared in court Thursday morning and entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. CNN —A high-ranking member of a Mexican drug cartel who allegedly faked his own death and has been living in California under a fake name is now facing federal charges, the US Justice Department announced Thursday. He also allegedly kidnapped two members of the Mexican Navy as part of an attempt to release his mother-in-law, El Mencho’s wife, after her arrest by Mexican authorities. El Mencho then allegedly helped Gutierrez-Ochoa fake his death to evade Mexican law enforcement by telling his associates that he had killed Gutierrez-Ochoa for lying. The Justice Department charged El Mencho in 2022 with leading the effort to manufacture and distribute fentanyl for importation into the US. He has not been arrested, and the State Department is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction.

A jury ordered former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger to pay $98 million after finding that she used excessive force in the fatal shooting of Botham Jean in his home six years ago. The jury found that Guyger acted with "malice, willfulness, or callous and reckless indifference" to Jean's safety and rights and awarded his family $60 million in punitive damages, a verdict form shows. The jury awarded an additional $38 million in compensatory damages for mental anguish, loss of earnings and other claims, the document shows. The Supreme Court did not ask the state to file a response to the application, suggesting that it was deemed lacking in legal merit. WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter who was among the first rioters to breach the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has been convicted of plotting to kill FBI special agents who investigated him over his crimes at the Capitol. NBC News affiliate WBIR in Knoxville reported that the jury convicted Kelley on all three counts after just an hour of deliberation. Kelley will be sentenced in the murder plot case on May 7, one month after he is set to be sentenced on his Capitol case, on April 7. Kelley provided a list of about 37 members of law enforcement who worked on his Jan. 6 case, prosecutors alleged. Edward Kelley was the fourth rioter to breach the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
