Recent hiccups for Nvidia could be the start of broader weakness for the artificial intelligence boom, and investors should consider dialing back their exposure to the stock, according to one small equity research shop. But last quarter sequential growth slowed again and now I'm concerned that it can continue to slow in Q3 and Q4. Elazar is not completely alone in being skeptical of Nvidia, but it's definitely a contrarian stance. Of the 64 analysts tracked by LSEG, 58 have buy or strong buy ratings on Nvidia, with the remaining six having hold ratings. Nvidia's stock is up 700% since the start of 2023, so being bullish has been the right call for Wall Street analysts.

How Jewish People Built the American Theater
  + stars: | 2023-11-29 | by ( Jesse Green | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +46 min
Let Us Tell You A Story How Jewish people built the American theater as we know it. The theater, which for many Jews was a major way of becoming American in the first place, seems unable to acknowledge that the danger that American Jews face is not just historical, and not just onstage. (Both of Adler’s parents were Yiddish theater stars — her father, Jacob Adler, was a renowned Shylock in 1903.) Embedding their own observation and experience within Stanislavsky’s, along with the best of Yiddish theater and a generous dollop of Freud, they converted the American theater to Judaism. Sara Krulwich/The New York TimesThe Jewish contribution to the creation of the American theater was built on the acknowledgment of a larger humanity alive within each of us, available to some, with natural empathy and rigorous training.

David Paul Morris | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesThis report is from today's CNBC Daily Open, our new, international markets newsletter. CNBC Daily Open brings investors up to speed on everything they need to know, no matter where they are. A year ago, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang promised investors the company is "navigating our supply chain transitions in a challenging macro environment and we will get through this." Hum goes on to suggest it's possible that, three months later, Nvidia reports revenue of $18 billion to $19 billion. That's almost $3 billion more than the $16 billion Nvidia said it expects.

Nvidia's shares rose to $510.14 in premarket trading, set to surpass a record high of $481.87 hit earlier this week. That represents another three-fold increase in the stock's value from current levels. Elsewhere, shares of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) (2330.TW), which supplies to Nvidia, rose 2.2%. A lot rested on Nvidia posting strong results, as most of the S&P 500's over 15% year-to-date gains have come from the AI-driven rally in Nvidia and other Big Tech stocks. Investing.com analyst Thomas Monteiro said Nvidia's results validated "the narrative that has been propping tech stocks in general this year."

About half of Nvidia's data center revenue comes from cloud providers, followed by big internet companies. The growth in Nvidia's data center business was in "compute," or AI chips, which grew 195% during the quarter, more than the overall business's growth of 171%. Some startups have even gone into debt to buy Nvidia GPUs in hopes of renting them out for a profit in the coming months. On an earnings call with analysts, Nvidia officials gave some perspective about why its data center chips are so profitable. Nvidia's AI software, called Cuda, is cited by analysts as the primary reason why customers can't easily switch to competitors like AMD .
