It was another excellent race for McLaren, following a victory for Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri in Azerbaijan last week. It was Norris’ third win of the season, cutting reigning champion Verstappen’s lead at the top of the drivers’ championship to 52 points after the Dutch driver finished second. “[It was] an amazing race,” Norris told Sky Sports after the race. "We do believe actually that we are in sort of a tipping point situation. Foreign direct investment into China fell by 29.6% during the January to July period versus a year ago, according to China's Ministry of Commerce. Such changes are part of Beijing's pledges to reduce what it calls the negative list, a collection of industries off-limits to foreign businesses in the country. However, Eskelund said such developments, while encouraging, did not move the needle enough for European businesses, especially when members' optimism on profitability in China for the next two years is at an all-time low.

The 347-hectare (857-acre) airport is expected to be fully operational by December 2024, the president said, at a total cost of 4.2 trillion rupiah ($263 million). The government targets the second half of 2024 for an international hospital, built by Indonesian hospital chain Mayapada (SRAJ.JK), to become operational. The president said he would break ground on nine projects in December, but gave no details.

There will be 96,651 domestic flights a week, or 34% higher than the same period four years ago, with 7,202 new weekly flights brought on by the opening of 516 new domestic routes. The increase in domestic flights focuses on connections between regional and hub airports like Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, the regulator said. In the next five months there will be 16,680 weekly flights, with passenger flights expected to reach 71% of the total four years ago. Flights to and from 22 countries, including Britain and Italy, have neared or overtaken pre-pandemic levels, the regulator said.

Xi, along with Vice Premier He Lifeng and other government officials, visited the People's Bank of China (PBOC) and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) in Beijing on Tuesday, the sources told Reuters. The purpose of the visit was not immediately known. The PBOC and SAFE could not be immediately reached for comment outside of business hours.
