People take photos with their smartphones as they monitor the annular solar eclipse on Jabal Arba (Four Mountains) in Hofuf, in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, December 26, 2019.
WHAT IS AN ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE?
The one that will occur on Saturday is a type called an "annular solar eclipse."
It does not completely obscure the face of the sun, unlike in a total solar eclipse.
They advise using safe solar viewing glasses or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times during an annular solar eclipse, noting that regular sunglasses are not safe for viewing the sun.
