Jason Kelce threw a late-night bash — and he brought his wife, his parents, a fan with a Phillie Phanatic tattoo inked on his navel, a Philly band and an uncensored (at least on stage) take on sports for the first of five episodes of “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce” on ESPN. Former NFL player and ESPN analyst Jason Kelce performs his opening monologue during the taping of "They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce," in Philadelphia on Jan. 3. Kelce was already omnipresent on television and social media, so what was one more gig to add to his resume? So “Late Night” was born. “I knew I wanted NFL Films because I felt like we wanted to make a show that celebrated the NFL landscape,” Kelce said.

There’s an argument to be made that Thursday’s game between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles is the most important Commanders regular season game in nearly 20 years. Since 2000, the Eagles have seven NFC championship game appearances, as well as three Super Bowl appearances. In fact, of the Commanders’ seven victories, only one has come against a team that’s currently over .500. Three of their wins have come against the Giants and the Carolina Panthers, who have seven wins combined. But beating the Eagles — on the road and in a short week — would certify Washington in a way the previous 10 weeks haven’t.

Golden eagle feet recovered by law enforcement officers from a Washington state man's vehicle. He said illegal shootings were “absolutely wrong” but sympathized with tribal members who don’t want to wait years for eagle parts. Around his waist was a decorative piece strung with eagle feathers, and he carried a short wooden stick carved into a bald eagle head, a single feather hanging from it. Online posts from people selling eagle feathers illegally are relatively easy to find on internet marketplaces. Most dead eagles, parts and feathers received by tribal members come from the wildlife service’s National Eagle Repository.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Baker Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to lead the resurgent Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 32-9 wild-card playoff victory over Jalen Hurts and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. “We’ve fought so hard to get to this point, to get a chance to be in the playoffs," Mayfield said. Philadelphia outgained the Bucs 472 yards to 174, running 78 plays to Tampa Bay’s 44 in the first meeting. Chase McLaughlin kicked field goals of 28, 54 and 48 yards, the latter extending Tampa Bay’s lead to 16-3 late in the second quarter.

The Eagles led 25-3 by the time the Bucs finally got into the end zone on Baker Mayfield's 1-yard TD throw to Mike Evans. A 2-point conversion trimmed Philadelphia's lead to 14 with 9:22 remaining, but Hurts and the Eagles never let Tampa Bay get the ball back. Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens punched a man over the weekend in Southern California, a brawl that the retired football great said Monday was self-defense. Once he entered the store, Owens said a customer approached him, identified themselves as a San Francisco 49ers fan and they exchanged pleasantries. "The guy I ended up fighting, he was basically threatening a guy, a fan of mine that was in the store," said Owens. Even two days later, Owens said he hasn't been able to figure out why the man was so aggressive to the 49ers fan. But the (49ers) fan was on the phone when I was talking to him.
Walker spoke of getting his start playing football in Johnson County and then making his way to the University of Georgia and pro football. He said that if he is re-elected he will fight to expand Medicaid in Georgia. And I think the people of Georgia have a real choice about who they think is ready to represent them in the United States Senate," Warnock told reporters Thursday, without directly addressing the abortion story. Warnock's allies, meanwhile, see the question more as a battle between Walker and Georgia voters — why give his opponent a chance to bring him into the story? What’s “very important” to her is Democrats’ holding the Senate and fighting GOP "extremism."
