Superstar center Joel Embiid has signed a three-year, approximately $192.9 million extension with the team that runs through the 2028-29 season, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported Friday morning. The seven-time All-Star is set to make approximately $51.4 million in the 2024-25 season and $55.2 million in 2025-26, according to Spotrac. The Sixers later officially announced that Embiid signed a “multi-year” extension. While he returned late in the regular season, Embiid had semi-regular injury scares and also dealt with Bell’s palsy during the playoffs. The Sixers will hope George can lessen the burden on Embiid and Maxey to create shots and summon late-game heroics.

Overall, NFL teams are currently averaging 21.4 points per game, the fifth straight year the scoring average has decreased, and the lowest points per game total since 2006. Last season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL with 4,624 yards, the lowest total for a passing yards leader since 2017. There are several theories as to why the passing game has been muted and scoring numbers have decreased. DirecTV and Disney have reached a deal that brings Disney’s ESPN and other channels back to the pay-tv provider’s customers after a roughly two week blackout. On Saturday, DirecTV and Disney said they reached a deal that called for “market based terms” on pricing. DirecTV will be able to offer Disney’s streaming services in its packages and a la carte, the company said in a release Saturday. The amount of customers DirecTV lost during the dispute was not “immaterial,” said DirecTV Chief Marketing Officer Vince Torres at Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia & Technology Conference on Thursday. DirecTV offered its customers a $30 credit, financed by stopping payments to Disney as soon as the blackout began, Torres said.
