After the camp ended, I headed back to DC, and Dan headed back to Colorado.

At Starbucks, Niccol inherits a company that under previous leadership consistently disappointed investors with weakening sales, including back-to-back periods of negative same-store sales growth this year. Operations Upon taking over Chipotle, Niccol's focus was on improving operations after the rise of digital orders complicated execution and increased wait times. The addition of shelves alone accelerated the use of Chipotle's second "make line," where digital orders are prepared in the back of the store. To rebuild consumer trust at Chipotle, Chipotle launched the "Behind the Foil" campaign to showcase transparency in food preparation. His marketing approach "brought new news in a positive way toward Chipotle," Silberman said.

Basic income puts low-income families on "an equal playing field," Nick Pacheco, participant engagement coordinator, said at a press conference. BOSTON (AP) — With back-to-back Super Bowl victories for the hometown Chiefs, Kansas City football fans gathered for another championship parade and a second celebratory pep rally in a row. Not because the Chiefs, with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes still just 28 years old, can’t win another NFL title. “They have to think twice about having these parades,” said former Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans, who in 38 years with the department worked 12 championship parades and the aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The event included a parade down Grand Boulevard, followed by a rally in front of Union Station. But that's a difficult proposition for large, open venues like where the Kansas City rally was held, or the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon course.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — At least eight people were injured in a shooting at the end of the parade to celebrate the Super Bowl win by the Kansas City Chiefs, sending terrified fans running for cover and marring yet another high-profile public event in gun violence. After the Denver Nuggets’ championship parade last year, a shooting took place in downtown Denver that injured two people, though police said they didn’t believe the incident was associated with the actual celebration. Also last year, an argument resulted in shots being fired at a parking lot near the Texas Rangers’ World Series championship parade. That followed the Kansas City Royals winning the World Series in 2015, the city’s first baseball championship in 30 years.

Experts in housing, building, and urban planning say it may be difficult to convert office space to livable, likeable residential housing, but there’s an urgent reason they’re trying. More office space is sitting empty in the United States than at any point since 1979, Moody’s Analytics reported earlier this week. By some estimates, only 3% of New York City office buildings and 2% in downtown Denver are suited for residential conversions. Office space and homes are two fundamentally different types of buildings, according to builders and architects. Do you have another building where you can move them?”As result, according to Theodos, office conversions are not a solution to either the empty office glut or the housing supply shortage.

Kéré’s Berlin-based firm says the building’s top-heavy appearance was inspired by the palaver tree, which traditionally served as a meeting place. Designed for developer s2e Technologies by US architecture firm Gensler, the four circular residential structures can accommodate a combined 84 households. But it is perhaps Bjarke Ingels, founder of Danish design firm BIG, that has had the greatest impact on the city’s once modest skyline. The first restored sections are set to be ready in time for this summer’s Paris Olympics. Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta and local practice Blight Rayner — who together beat more than 20 entries in an international competition — say that the design was inspired by the flow of the Brisbane River.

DENVER (AP) — Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson said he's flying to New York to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday to get more clarity about his latest suspension and the way the league enforces its player safety rules. He's missed three games so far and will miss three more, costing him a total of $837,000 in lost wages. Previously, he's said he knows he's drawing extra scrutiny from the league for his spate of fouls. “So, hopefully something comes from this meeting — I don't think much will, because I don't even think they know," Jackson added. His hit of Dobbs upon his return on Nov. 19 didn't draw a flag but it did draw the league's ire again and resulted in his second suspension.

Nikola Jokic, an Elusive Superstar, Has a Hold on Denver

About two miles from downtown Denver, the yellows, oranges and reds of a spray-painted mural fill the cracked, gray cement wall of a building that houses a temporary employment agency. The mural rises about 20 feet and depicts an expressionless Nikola Jokic next to a much more emotive Jamal Murray, his eyes narrowed and arms extended as though he is wielding a bow and arrow. Thomas Evans, a 38-year-old artist, finished the mural of the two Denver Nuggets stars recently as the team prepared to begin the N.B.A. He said the mural inspired him and some collaborators to write the song as a tribute to Jokic. James is the biggest star in the N.B.A., with four championship rings, piles of endorsement deals and a constant presence on social media and television.
