Back in late September, I laid out a bearish thesis on Apple and the trade expired last Friday and resulted in a 100% gain. Apple (AAPL) continues to face significant headwinds, with disappointing iPhone 16 sales, growing competition in augmented reality, and underwhelming progress in artificial intelligence (AI). China's slowing economy has weighed heavily on Apple, exacerbating challenges in one of its largest markets. While Apple boasts industry-leading net margins of 24%, its expected EPS growth of 11.6% and revenue growth of 6.9% provide limited justification for this valuation premium. With iPhone sales growth faltering and the lack of a clear catalyst from AI or AR/VR initiatives, AAPL's premium valuation remains increasingly difficult to sustain.

Luxury retailer Burberry 's shares present an attractive investment opportunity after the company revealed a new turnaround strategy, according to hedge fund manager David Neuhauser. The stock, which is also traded in the U.S. and Germany, remains down around 40% year-to-date, however. UBS said Burberry was the only luxury retailer not to report "weak organic sales growth" in the latest quarter. "I think Burberry has a good turnaround in place with a new CEO," Neuhauser added, while cautioning that the recovery might take longer than expected. "I think over some time, a good turnaround by Burberry, with strong leadership, could really see the stock price increase.

AdvertisementI first went to law school in Mexico, where people were more open to friendships. However, the top three global financial hubs (New York, London, and Singapore) belong to common law countries. The US has a common law system, meaning that laws come from uncodified case law resulting from court decisions. Law schools in Mexico take a more theoretical approach, while law schools in the US focus on the practical side. In my case, both law schools made sure we acknowledged this in order to understand how useful we can be.

Options on BlackRock's popular iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) began trading on the Nasdaq Tuesday, ushering in a new way to trade and speculate on the price of bitcoin. IBIT traded 73,000 options contracts in the first 60 mins of trading Tuesday, Nasdaq told CNBC, placing the fund in the top 20 of the most active nonindex options. The market for options contracts on major ETFs can be extremely active, and are widely used by more sophisticated traders. The launch of the bitcoin ETF options will likely also lead to new funds that incorporate those options, said Todd Sohn, ETF strategist at Strategas. Autonomous driving technology company WeRide has plenty of room to grow as a result of its early-mover advantage in the global self-driving market, according to Morgan Stanley, which brought the firm public in an IPO last month at $15.50 a share . Morgan Stanley estimates the global autonomous driving market size will jump to $1.745 trillion in 2030 from $93 billion in 2025. "WeRide is a pure play in global L4+ autonomous driving," Hsiao wrote in a 38-page report on Tuesday note. Level 4 autonomous driving describes when a vehicle can drive in most circumstances without a human driver, one step below the top-most Level 5 designation for a fully automated vehicle . To be sure, the threat of tighter regulation on driverless vehicles is a downside risk for the stock, and Morgan Stanley forecasts WeRide's earnings and cash flow will remain "volatile" in the near term, Hsiao noted.

Pure-play electric vehicle stocks like Rivian and Lucid are flat and down more than 3%, respectively, since Trump's victory. So why is Tesla soaring even as a second Trump administration is expected to fundamentally disrupt the U.S. electric vehicle market? And increased tariffs could make inputs for electric vehicles more expensive. These headwinds ignore the fact that Trump's new best friend is Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi told clients in a Monday note. But Tesla's fundamentals are largely steady postelection, while Musk's relationship with Trump underlines how Tesla largely controls the self-driving vehicle narrative, the analyst said.

Strategist Michael Wilson sees the S & P 500 reaching 6,500 in 2025. The sector is already up 6.8% since the Nov. 5 election, outperforming the other 10 S & P 500 sectors. The benchmark 10-year Treasury note yield is up more than 80 basis points (0.8 percentage point) since the Fed began cutting rates. While Wilson's base case sees the S & P 500 rising to 6,500, his most optmistic bullish scenario takes the benchmark all the way to 7,400 — 26% above Friday's close. However, his initial 2024 S & P 500 target proved too conservative at 4,500.
