New York CNN —Former President Donald Trump said Friday that Fox News staffers helped him write his speech for the Al Smith charity dinner, in which he cracked jokes and insulted his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump made the comment during an interview on “Fox and Friends,” in which he was asked about his monologue. Host Steve Doocy said Democrats historically “turn to the guys from ‘Saturday Night Live’ or the ‘Tonight Show;’ they write all their material,” before asking Trump who helped write his speech. “I had a lot of people, a couple people from Fox actually, I shouldn’t say that. “I’m going to see Rupert Murdoch,” Trump said.

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will not participate in any future debates against Vice President Kamala Harris. "There will be no debate," he said in all-caps on his Truth Social website, before criticizing the vice president's debate performance. Trump has claimed the moderators were unfair and was initially noncommittal about participating in another matchup with Harris. In multiple TruthSocial posts, Trump had said he was considering debate offers from Fox, CBS and NBC. During an interview with "Fox and Friends" on Wednesday, host Steve Doocy said the network on Tuesday night had offered the Trump and Harris campaigns three potential dates in October for an additional debate.

Donald Trump is a "loser," President Joe Biden now repeatedly says of his likely 2024 general election opponent. And of course Trump should want to debate him, Biden said, since he's "got nothing else to do." "Nevada, you’re the reason we will make Donald Trump a loser again," the president wrote on his own social media account. Fox held separate pre-Iowa town halls for DeSantis and Haley, but at 6 p.m. before prime time. Frustration boiled over when DeSantis' campaign manager, James Uthmeier, felt that a Fox graphic didn't show the extent of the candidate's appearances in Iowa. Asked by Ainsley Earhardt if she would withdraw if she lost New Hampshire, Haley said she would not. “I don't care how much y'all want to coronate Donald Trump,” Haley said. “I don't need any advice from RINO Kayleigh McEnany on Fox,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referencing the conservative slur Republican in Name Only.

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has a secret talent, according to Politico: rapping. He performed an impromptu freestyle rap on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday for host Steve Doocy. Thankfully, the 37-year-old candidate appeared on Fox News' "Fox & Friends," where host Steve Doocy allowed Ramaswamy to share his gift with the world. Put on the spot, and without a beat, Ramaswamy entertained Doocy with a few short bars:"My name's Vivek, it rhymes with cake. Fox News personalities are chomping at the bit for Donald Trump to participate in their GOP debate. Several Fox News anchors are practically begging former President Donald Trump to attend their GOP presidential debate on August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The Washington Post reported. "When you have a big lead, you don't do it," Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo last week. When the network hosted a GOP debate in August 2015 (wherein Trump famously sparred with Megyn Kelly), the network drew in 24 million views, the Post reported. When Trump pulled out of another Fox debate months later, the network logged about half as many views.

Just 41% of poll respondents - including 74% of Democrats and 10% of Republicans - approved of his performance as president. Sixty-one percent of registered Democrats in the poll said he was too old to work in government. By comparison, only 35% of registered Republicans said Trump, 76, was too old. In a hypothetical one-on-one contest, Biden led Trump 43% to 38% among registered voters, a lead for the Democrat that was just outside the poll's 4 percentage point credibility interval for registered voters. The Reuters/Ipsos poll gathered responses from 1,005 adults across the United States, including 445 self-described Democrats and 361 Republicans.
Private texts reveal incredible detail about Fox News' inner workings. Among the messages is a thread where Tucker Carlson privately bashes Trump. Top Fox News hosts, including Tucker Carlson, privately insulted Chris Wallace and hatched a plot for a rebellion — November, 16, 2020. Dominion captured a number of texts that show Fox employees' apprehension about the growing conspiracy claims about the company's voting machines in the wake of the election. The White House Correspondents' Association doesn't police member conduct, a former board member said. A number of professional organizations told Insider that Fox News fell well short of the standards expected in the profession. "Journalism receives significant protections from the First Amendment and with those protections come profound responsibilities," McCarran told Insider. Evidence made public in Dominion's lawsuit shows how Fox employees — beyond just hosts of opinion shows — had priorities other than telling their viewers the truth. "There are left-wing publications, right-wing publications, there are government-owned publications — there's Voice of America, foreign news organizations," the former board member said. "
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade praised Trump for having a "very disciplined message." "Since he went and visited East Palestine, stopped having lunch with white supremacists, and has got a very disciplined message," Kilmeade said. He attributed that, in part, to Trump not "having lunch with white supremacists" and visiting East Palestine, Ohio, after a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in the town last month. The reference to "white supremacists" is likely a nod to Trump's November meeting at his Mar-a-Lago resort with notorious white supremacist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and the rapper Kanye West, who now goes by Ye. "This is the most disciplined I've ever seen him," Kilmeade said of Trump, "even compared to 2016."
The filings expose the face of the network, Tucker Carlson, as a fraud. They show that Rupert Murdoch rejected conspiracy theories about Dominion, despite allowing them to be promoted on his network. But here are some immediate takeaways:► Carlson “passionately” hates Trump: In a number of private text messages, Carlson was harshly critical of Trump. I truly can’t wait.” Carlson added of Trump, “I hate him passionately.” The Fox host said of the Trump presidency, “That’s the last four years. There isn’t really an upside to Trump.”► Murdoch rejected conspiracies: In his January deposition, Murdoch was repeatedly asked about various electronic voting conspiracy theories — and he rejected all of them.
CNN —A last-ditch effort to salvage a Fox interview with President Joe Biden before the Super Bowl has fallen through. Biden is not expected to participate in the annual presidential Super Bowl interview with Fox, the network airing the game this year. The Biden administration attempted a workaround that avoided a sit-down with Fox News, with which the White House has a contentious relationship. Fox has canceled the interview, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a tweet Friday. Despite some discussion early on about an interview, the White House never committed to granting a sit-down to Fox News.
This year, Fox is airing the Super Bowl, which would mean that Fox News would be in line for an interview. Typically, such interviews are conducted on the Friday before the Super Bowl and are agreed to much further in advance so that logistics can be coordinated. Biden has not granted Fox News a single interview during his presidency, despite the network repeatedly asking. If Biden were to do an interview with Fox News ahead of the Super Bowl, it would almost certainly be with Bret Baier, who is a much more respected, traditional news anchor, albeit one that leans conservative. A White House spokesperson declined to comment when asked if Biden will sit down with the right-wing network ahead of the big game.
Unedited footage of the news conference shows Jean-Pierre did respond to Doocy’s query regarding the classified documents found at an office used by Joe Biden after his vice-presidential term. Around timestamp 39:03 of the White House footage (youtu.be/3ImvwTKCa0c?t=2342), Doocy is heard asking: “And then, on these documents, how could anyone be that irresponsible? He — again, he believes that classified documents and information should be taken seriously. The briefing continued for about 20 more minutes before Jean-Pierre left the room, White House footage shows. This video clip has been altered to make it appear that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dodged a question by Fox News journalist Peter Doocy and immediately left the briefing room.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to probe Biden's mishandling of classified information. "Mr. Hur has a long and distinguished career as a prosecutor," Garland told reporters after announcing his decision. Garland added that US attorney John Lausch, a Trump appointee who has guided the preliminary investigation, told Garland that he could only lead the initial stages of the probe. Responding to Garland's announcement, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, called the mishandling of documents a "mistake." "As I said earlier this week, people know I take classified documents and classified material seriously," Biden told reporters.
Biden's aides discovered another batch of classified docs at a second location, NBC News reported. They've been conducting an exhaustive search for additional documents since first discovering what the White House described as a "small" batch at Biden's old office in November. Biden's team notified the National Archives and turned the documents over, and they're cooperating with a DOJ investigation into the matter, the White House said. "He takes classified documents very seriously." Fox News' Peter Doocy pointed to Biden calling Trump's retention of classified documents "totally irresponsible" and asked, "How can President Biden be trusted moving forward with America's secrets?"
Brian Kilmeade called the GOP holdouts blocking Kevin McCarthy from being speaker "insurrectionists." The "FOX & Friends" host immediately walked the comment back, going for "saboteurs" instead. The people that don't wanna vote for Kevin McCarthy." At least Kevin McCarthy agreed to some things, and didn't agree to other things." The "Fox & Friends" host did not single out by name the congresspeople he thought were "insurrectionists."
Video of an exchange between White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and Fox News journalist Peter Doocy has been digitally altered. Social media users online are taking the edited version, where Jean-Pierre appears to ignore a question by Doocy on oil companies, to be authentic. So, you’re asking oil companies to further lower gas prices. There is no shortage of opportunity or incentive for oil companies to ramp up production. The clip has been altered to make it appear that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not answer a reporter’s question.
