Read previewA former employee of Kanye West's has accused the rap mogul of threatening the staff and students of his private Christian school, Donda Academy, according to a new lawsuit filed Tuesday. Representatives for Donda Academy, Yeezy, and a lawyer for West did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. AdvertisementPhillips was hired shortly after West's business empire began to collapse following his repeated antisemitic comments on social media, in which he claimed he would go "death con 3" on Jewish people. But, despite his public apologies for the remarks, Phillips said West's antisemitic comments and praise of Hitler continued at work, sometimes within earshot of students. "Fearing for their jobs and also to de-escalate Kanye's absurdities (so that the two present school children did not hear), the school staff did their best to ignore him."

Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, was sued Tuesday by a former employee who accused him of discrimination and creating a hostile work environment by calling Adolf Hitler “great,” disparaging Jews and saying that “gay people are not true Christians.”The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by Trevor Phillips, who says he was hired in November 2022, around the time a series of antisemitic remarks publicly made by Ye lost the artist his major-label record deal and put his businesses in jeopardy. Phillips was initially hired to oversee “projects related to growing cotton” and other plants in an effort to make Yeezy, Ye’s fashion brand, “self-sustainable,” the lawsuit said, and then went on to work for Donda Academy, Ye’s private school in Southern California. Phillips’s lawsuit claims that Ye made antisemitic comments in front of staff members at Donda Academy, including, “the Jews are out to get me” and “the Jews are stealing all my money.” After Adidas ended its decade-long partnership with Ye over his public remarks, the lawsuit claimed, the rapper told Phillips: “The Jews are working with Adidas to freeze up my money to try and make me broke!”

Ye, the rap star formerly known as Kanye West, on Monday made his first concert appearance after a series of antisemitic remarks on social media and in interviews last year, which led to his alienation from the music industry and loss of lucrative fashion deals with Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga. Ye’s return to the stage came as a guest during a livestreamed album-release concert by Travis Scott at Circus Maximus, the park in central Rome that in ancient times was the site of a giant stadium where chariot races and other entertainment took place. Scott, a protégé of Ye’s, brought his mentor out during a concert to celebrate his chart-topping new album, “Utopia.” With Scott dressed in white and Ye all in black — initially with a hood and mask, which didn’t stay on for long — they performed two Ye songs together: “Praise God,” from his 2021 album “Donda,” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” a Kanye West classic from his 2007 album “Graduation.”“There is no ‘Utopia’ without Kanye West,” Scott told the crowd. “There is no Travis Scott without Kanye West. There is no Rome without Kanye West.”

The two would go on to discuss the beginnings of what eventually became the Stem Player. It was originally named the "Donda Stem Player," a reference to West's 10th studio album, Donda. Faced with "worse" terms and news of Ye's antisemitic comments, Kano didn't accept, Klein said. Despite recent outcry over Ye's antisemitic remarks, he has frequently raised eyebrows. The Stem Player, along with West's dedicated fanbase, drove great commercial success for the small London startup.
Kanye West is named a suspect in a battery investigation after throwing a woman's phone, TMZ reports. A video shared by the outlet Friday shows the rapper confronting several people filming him. If I say stop, stop with your cameras," he said in the clip. If I say stop, stop with your cameras," West said. In the video, West then appears to take the woman's phone from her hand and throws it in the street before approaching a man with a camera near the rapper's car.
Ye, aka Kanye West, hasn't replaced lawyers who abandoned him following his antisemitic tirades. In another case in Los Angeles county court, lawyers have been trying to track down Ye since October to serve him with a lawsuit. That deadline is fast approaching, with radio silence from Ye, court filings show. In yet another case, lawyers for a plaintiff trying to sue Ye can't even find the rapper to serve him papers. If Ye doesn't come to court with an answer to the lawsuit, he risks losing it by default.
The lawyers can't find him to tell him they've quit, and West isn't responding to texts. Lawyers for Greenberg Traurig were able to serve West with documents telling him they no longer wanted to represent him. In that case, held in federal court in California, US District Judge George H. Wu allowed Greenberg Traurig to withdraw on December 2. In court documents first reported by The Sun and reviewed by Insider, lawyers for Thomas St. John said on December 19 that they couldn't serve West with the lawsuit. West's previous lawyers — presumably the ones at Greenberg Traurig — told the management firm they no longer represented West, and the firm couldn't locate any replacement firm.
He tried that earlier with his music and has been hit with copyright lawsuits related to sampling. And what followed was a thicket of lawsuits from people who alleged West failed to properly credit their songs when using samples for the album. Worse still, according to the lawsuit, West and his pals used "Life of the Party" to market the Stem Player. The company squandered months on the work, even relocating its headquarters to better closely work with West. In the end, the lawsuit alleged, West used a rip-off of MyChannel's e-commerce technology to sell his clothing at a concert.
“We saw everybody in the dining room get up and start applauding, and then the president entered,” Fuentes told NBC News. “He greeted us, and he invited Ye into dinner and Ye said that he wanted to bring us with him to the table. “Trump is really impressed with Nick Fuentes,” Ye said in the video. Giorno said she had been caught in the blast radius of the dinner with Ye and Fuentes but was an unwitting participant. About halfway to Mar-a-Lago, Giorno said in an interview, she realized that Ye, Fuentes and the other man weren’t properly attired.
Trump's team has claimed that the rapper Ye tricked him by bringing a well-known white supremacist to Mar-a-Lago. "Kanye punked Trump," one Trump adviser told NBC News of the dinner with Nick Fuentes. The Trump campaign is now reviewing their processes to prevent someone like Fuentes from getting near Trump again, sources with knowledge of the discussions told NBC News. "The master troll got trolled," one Trump adviser, who spoke anonymously, told NBC News. One Trump adviser told NBC News that the former president said Ye's attendance at Mar-a-Lago "would be fun for the members."
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft sponsored an ad that ran during broadcasts of NFL games on Sunday calling on viewers to "stand up against Jewish hate." “Antisemitism is hate. For being Jewish,” the 30-second ad released by the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism and the Robert K. Kraft Family Foundation said. "My hope is this commercial will continue to enhance the national conversation about the need to speak out against hatred of all types, and particularly to stand up to Jewish hate," he said. "Those who spread messages of hate, racism and antisemitism will not be able to change the heart of this city or her people.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has lost deals to the tune of billions of dollars this month. Ye later sent a box of the shirts to homeless people on Los Angeles' Skid Row in a move one local advocate said made "a mockery and political prop of Black Angelenos." Adidas and Gap cut their ties with Ye this week. A day later, fashion magazine Vogue and its editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, said they had no plans to continue working with him. Parler's users lean older, and West has a fraction of the followers on Parler that he does on Twitter. If Ye now turns to Parler as his primary communication channel online, his online audience will significantly change. Ye had around 2,800 followers on Parler as of early Monday, a fraction of his audience on Twitter and Instagram. About 60% of Twitter users are between the ages of 18 and 34, according to data from traffic analytics company Similarweb. 34% of Parler users are 55 years or older, while just over 10% of Twitter users are in the same age group, according to Similarweb.
I no longer miss the “old” Kanye West, now known as Ye. I’m tired of hearing about the new Ye, and I wish we could stop talking about him altogether. Days before that, he appeared with far-right pundit Candace Owens flaunting “White Lives Matter” T-shirts during Paris Fashion Week. This includes to stopping asking for the “old Kanye” back. Chop up the soul Kanye, set on his goals Kanye.” At first, I sang the lyrics with hope that the “old Kanye” who once had such a hopeful swagger would return, that he would get past his ego and be born again as the creative powerhouse whose every move we followed with anticipation instead of dread.
