ATLANTA (AP) — Bill Belichick made no demands for additional authority during his two interviews with Atlanta in the coach search that led to the hiring of Raheem Morris, according to Falcons owner Arthur Blank. Speaking for the first time on Friday about the search, Blank said Belichick did not request control of player personnel, as was widely speculated. Belichick had player personnel control in New England. Blank said he was impressed by the experience Morris, a former Atlanta assistant coach, gained with the Rams. “I would never, ever feel slighted ... for what people would feel about coach Belichick, right?”Blank was ill and did not attend Monday's news conference.

☆ Bill Belichick pens heartfelt letter to ‘passionate’ New England Patriots fans

CNN —Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick penned an emotional thank you letter to the “Patriots Nation” in Sunday’s Boston Globe. “Nowhere in America are pro sports fans as passionate as in New England and for 24 years, I was blessed to feel your passion and power,” Belichick wrote. “The Patriots are the only NFL team representing SIX states but in reality, Patriots Nation knows no borders. I loved coaching here and, together, we experienced some amazing moments.”Belichick spent 24 seasons as the Patriots head coach, leaving the team in January. Belichick has 333 total victories (both regular and postseason) – the second most all-time behind Hall of Fame head coach Don Shula’s 347.

ATLANTA (AP) — With Bill Belichick set for a second interview, the Atlanta Falcons have talked with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn about their vacant head coaching job. The Falcons announced Friday they had completed a virtual interview with Glenn, who has led the Lions' defense for the past three seasons. Glenn became the ninth candidate to interview with the Falcons, but all eyes were on Belichick amid reports that he was the team's top choice and had flown into Atlanta on one of owner Arthur Blank's private jets for a second interview. The Falcons confirmed they were meeting further with Belichick, but said no additional details would be provided until the follow-up interview was completed. For good measure, Belichick was a part of two more championship teams while working on the New York Giants' staff under Bill Parcells.

ATLANTA (AP) — Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons for their head coaching vacancy on Tuesday, his second interview in two days. The Falcons announced the interview with Harbaugh, who is exploring a return to the NFL after leading Michigan to the national championship. The Los Angeles Chargers announced Monday that Harbaugh had interviewed for their head coaching vacancy. Harbaugh is the second high-profile candidate to talk with the Falcons this week, following the team's interview with Bill Belichick on Monday. Before conducting the interviews with Belichick and Harbaugh, the Falcons held virtual interviews with five candidates, only one of whom has head coaching experience.
