Arlington Police said a man was killed and another woman was severely injured after an SUV crashed into them early Saturday morning. Police said the man, Tyler White, was taken to the hospital but died. She said they parked on the shoulder of the road near the grass as her husband went to get ropes out of the trunk to tow their friend’s 2016 Hyundai Veloster that was stuck in the mud. “We were hugging and I’m like, ‘Get in the car, get in the car, it’s cold outside.’ She’s like, ‘No, I’m muddy,” said White. After white went back inside their 2004 GMC Yukon, everything changed in an instant.

Week 5 of the NFL season is here and we have a full slate of intriguing storylines to follow, led by a pair of players facing former teams. While Rodgers has the accolades, Minnesota's Sam Darnold has been the better quarterback so far this season. Cardinals (1-3) at 49ers (2-2)The 49ers’ offense has been banged up, but it rebounded last week in a win over New England. An NFL All-Pro four consecutive years while in Buffalo, Diggs is averaging a career-low 9.3 yards per catch in Houston. That’s not a good sign for a defense that has allowed 26.0 points per game, the fifth-highest average.

New York CNN —Stop & Shop is closing 32 underperforming grocery stores across the US northeast as part of the company’s efforts to improve its financial performance. Shoppers are also being squeezed by higher prices at the grocery store, with food prices experiencing modest upticks last month, according to the newest inflation report. Ahold Delhaize, the chain’s Dutch parent company, revealed the locations Friday adding that they will close in early November. Stop & Shop said it “remains committed to serving its communities through other store locations, online shopping and home delivery services.” Employees impacted by the closures will be offered other opportunities in the company. In addition to operating Stop & Shop, Ahold Delhaize owns Food Lion and Giant grocery stores in the US.

Plaintiffs in some high-stakes, high-profile cases have found that in some of the country’s federal courts, it’s not hard to cherry pick a sympathetic judge. Such judge shopping, particularly in cases challenging abortion rights and immigration policy, has been drawing increasing scrutiny. Last month, the federal judiciary’s policymaking body called for colleagues to curb the practice by making the assignment of the biggest civil cases random in the 94 federal district courts. Each says that the goal of their respective bills is to eradicate the pursuit of sympathetic judges by savvy litigants. It would end the most targeted form of judge shopping, where plaintiffs game a district’s case-assignment system by filing in a small division staffed by one or two judges.

A few years ago, the phrase “Dimes Square” began to flit around the art world. It had a youthful irreverence and seemed to be among those “if you know, you know” spots that only a few could point to on a map. But just before Christmas, I learned of a pop-up group show in a building known as 1 Ludlow on Dimes Square. A small starter gallery, it consists in its entirety of Tony Cox, an artist/dealer (and former pro skateboarder), and his small Canal Street loft nearby that since 2018 has served not only as his home-studio but also as his exhibition space. Cox was given the use of 1 Ludlow, a small building at the intersection of Dime Square’s main vectors — Ludlow Street, Canal Street and Division Street — in the loosely defined boundary of the Lower East Side and Chinatown.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 27 (Reuters) - Snap Inc (SNAP.N) is shutting its division focused on making augmented reality (AR) services for businesses within months of its launch, as the ad-dependent social media company struggles in a tough economy. Snap, the maker of photo messaging app Snapchat, started AR Enterprise Services (ARES) in March, looking to diversify its revenue beyond digital advertising that makes up the vast majority of its revenue. CEO Spiegel said rising adoption of generative artificial intelligence made it hard for Snap to differentiate its offering that allowed customers to use its AR tech on their sites as companies created their own experiences. UBS on Thursday posted a second-quarter profit of $28.88 billion in its first quarterly earnings since Switzerland's largest bank completed its takeover of stricken rival Credit Suisse. UBS said the result primarily reflected $28.93 billion in negative goodwill on the Credit Suisse acquisition. Underlying profit before tax, which excludes negative goodwill, integration-related expenses and acquisition costs, came in at $1.1 billion. The fate of Credit Suisse's flagship Swiss bank, a key profit center for the group and the only division still generating positive earnings in 2022, was a focal point of the acquisition. The emergency rescue deal that saw UBS purchase Credit Suisse at a heavily discounted 3 billion Swiss francs was mediated by Swiss authorities over the course of a weekend in March.

Millennial couples are more likely to live together, with 65%, versus 37% of Gen Z couples. More than half of couples, 54%, said finances were part of their decision to move in together. Half of couples don't split the mortgage or rent equally, and 39% do not split pet costs equally, the survey found. Experts say the survey results underscore that when it comes to sharing expenses, equal isn't always equitable, or fair. "I think it's almost not fair to split finances 50-50 without taking into account your partner's financial situation," said Daigle, who is also a member of the CNBC Financial Advisor Council.

Those winds also battered power lines on the island, and dramatic videos show lines swaying and being toppled in the gusts. Now, some locals are casting blame on Hawaiian Electric, the state’s biggest utility, for not shutting off power to high-risk areas – and claiming that its power lines could have sparked the deadly fire. State officials were well aware of the danger posed by downed power lines during hurricanes. A 2021 state report noted that “downed power lines” and “residential and wildland fires” were hazards related to hurricanes. Maui Mayor Richard Bissen said Thursday that power lines that were “still energized” had fallen on the roads.

In the past, the library would have cited fair use and provided scans to the students via secure software, but after the March court ruling, Mr. Stutzman said, it’s unclear what is allowed. “I’m caught between enforcing the current legal paradigms around copyright and allowing my colleagues to have academic freedom in what they assign students to read,” Mr. Stutzman said. That clarity would come from an appeal, which Mr. Kahle said he intended to mount. The National Emergency Library may be history, but the Open Library division still offers scans of many books under copyright. Loans are for one hour or for two weeks “if the book is fully borrowable,” a term that is not defined.

To estimate Nvidia's AI revenue opportunity, Goldman broke it down into two computing categories: training and inference. Here's a chart that shows how Goldman sees Nvidia's AI revenue opportunities shaking out from calendar year 2023 through calendar 2025 in each category. To put Goldman's AI computing revenue estimates into perspective: Nvidia's entire companywide revenue over the past three fiscal years totaled $70.5 billion. The last few years have been hard in our marriage, and he sometimes says he's considering a no-fault divorce. But if you live in a community property state, your husband will be entitled to half. Is your state a fault or no-fault state? You mentioned in your letter that your husband has specifically threatened a "no-fault" divorce, but according to Costas, it isn't up to him. If you live in a no-fault state, outside of criminal factors, it won't matter whether one partner cheated or left.

CNN —A man dressed in the yellow and green of the Brazilian flag walks towards a glass table inside the Planalto Presidential Palace in Brasilia with a metal rod in his hand. The footage provides new insight into one of the darkest days in in the life of Brazil’s young democracy. It also appears to bolster the claims of those who accused police of failing to act to stop protesters from breaking into the Presidential Palace, among other government buildings. The newly obtained footage shows police forces seemingly retreating as supporters of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro – who was ousted in a vote last fall – march on the palace. “To liken my behaviour to that Major distributing waters to protesters is absurd,” he told Brazilian broadcaster Globo.
