CNN —A Democratic election official in Pennsylvania offered an impassioned apology Wednesday for claiming “precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country” to justify counting about 600 faulty ballots in defiance of state Supreme Court rulings. “I made a mistake, and because I am an elected official, I am held to a far higher standard than everybody else. Her prior comments about flouting court precedent took off on social media and were promoted widely by Trump allies like Elon Musk. In response to a lawsuit from the McCormick campaign, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Monday ordered counties to abide by its past rulings about the undated ballots. Patricia Poprik, chair of the Bucks County Republican Party, on Wednesday said the board’s actions overshadowed the hard work of county election workers.

A New Jersey school district faces legal action from three separate lawsuits filed this year, following the firing of its openly gay school superintendent. In a lawsuit filed in May, John Berenato, the former superintendent of the Manchester Township School District, accused the district of sexual orientation discrimination that led to his firing in November of last year. According to court documents, Antonucci was with Berenato when he received “disgusting derogatory texts regarding sexual acts” from district board members. Burns, an out lesbian, was the only LGBTQ district administrator as of February, according to court documents. To Barry Diller, a friend of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the decision for The Washington Post not to endorse a candidate in tomorrow's presidential election was "absolutely principled" — and poorly timed, he said Monday on CNBC's Squawk Box. "They made a blunder — it should've happened months before, and it didn't, and that's the issue with it," Diller said. Diller is chairperson of both online travel company Expedia and IAC , which owns media platforms and websites like Dotdash Meredith and Care.com. "I think it was absolutely principled," Diller said. Unlike younger generations, who until recently may have taken federal abortion protections for granted, older women recall the era of illegal backroom abortions that preceded Roe. A fight for the senior voteNot all older women are motivated by abortion. But in a race that is expected to be decided on the margins, boosting support among women and older voters could make a difference. There are some signs in early voting data that women seniors are highly motivated to vote, said Tom Bonier, a Democratic strategist and CEO of the data firm TargetSmart. Abortion bans in many states, including North Carolina, make exceptions for ectopic pregnancies, but patients have reported delays in care.

Outrage has followed the release of a video from a Halloween parade in Pennsylvania that seemed to depict Vice President Kamala Harris tied to a golf cart carrying a man wearing a mask of former President Donald Trump. The float moved along a main street in Mount Pleasant, a town of about 4,000 people located 45 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. A video appeared to show a woman dressed as Harris with her hands tied at the Halloween parade Wednesday. The fire department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News or share who did the float belong to. The fire department said on Facebook that it has “traditionally only provided safety & traffic control” during the parade.

You can’t look this up in a law book and find an answer to the query because it doesn’t exist.”Previously, prosecutors have not objected to Trump’s bids to delay his sentencing before the election, which Judge Juan Merchan noted in agreeing to postpone Trump’s sentencing until late November. If Trump loses on immunity, his lawyers are expected to ask Merchan to delay Trump’s sentencing so they can appeal. Trump’s attorneys attempted this in 2023, and District Judge Alvin Hellerstein denied it. But following the Supreme Court ruling, Trump’s attorneys made a second attempt this summer. That was denied when Merchan agreed to postpone Trump’s sentencing.

The price increase was approved Saturday at a National Council meeting, where 900 delegates were present to discuss the Girl Scouts’ future. They voted to hike dues to $45 for the 2026 membership year and again to $65 in 2027. Dues will remain at $25 for 2025, which has been the same price for the program for eight years. Membership dues are the Girl Scout’s largest source of revenue, generating $38 million in 2023 from its nearly 2 million total members. “It’s an enormous increase,” said Sally Bertram, a 30-year troop leader with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

And it could bring the devastating war in Gaza closer to an end, experts say – if Israel and its allies can seize the opportunity. Before the war, power in Hamas was decentralized – with Gaza political chief Sinwar just one of many leaders, Chorev said. Shira Efron, a senior director of policy research at the Diane and Guilford Glazer Foundation said Sinwar’s killing gives Netanyahu the chance to claim a victory. Sinwar’s killing could also pave the way for a hostage and ceasefire agreement, since he was believed to be one of the main blockers of a deal. The largest single-contributor donations went to MAGA Inc., the super PAC backing Trump, with Wisconsin roofing billionaire Diane Hendricks, a prolific GOP megadonor, giving $10 million to the group. On the Democratic side, tech entrepreneurs were the biggest donors to FF PAC, also known as Future Forward, a super PAC backing Harris’ presidential bid. Moskovitz donated $3 million to FF PAC, while Hastings, Jeff Lawson and Erica Lawson each gave $1 million. Super PACs like FF PAC and MAGA Inc. are havens for prolific political megadonors like Hendricks, Lutnick and Hastings because, unlike campaigns and their affiliated committees, super PACs don’t have limits on how much individuals can donate. The Harris campaign also dramatically outspent the Trump campaign in August, burning through about $174 million. By comparison, Trump’s campaign spent just $61 million last month, with the lion’s share – more than $47 million – going toward media buys. The Trump and Harris campaigns are aligned with an array of committees that file disclosure reports on a separate schedule. The Trump campaign, as CNN has previously reported, has opted to outsource much of its ground game operation to outside organizations. But in reality, many avid Target shoppers like myself were left confused, frustrated, and searching for their beloved 1% cash back. Target did confirm that the majority of the Target Circle deals are automatically applied at checkout. It is worth noting that the program sometimes offers Target Circle rewards, which shoppers can apply toward future purchases. However, unlike the previous cash-back earnings, Target Circle rewards are only given after select Target Circle bonuses are activated and redeemed. In my opinion, the solution could be as simple as restoring the beloved cash-back reward for Target Circle members.
