It was around then that he started Daimon Labs alongside Dhruv Malik and Xiang Zhang to pursue the dream of what he calls "machines of loving grace". He ignored every metric of success for an AI model, except one: perplexity. It's a measure of how certain the AI model is of its predictions. But even with ruthlessly optimized hardware and that single-minded focus, Daimon Labs still couldn't afford to build the model Benmalek was envisioning.
