CNN —A stained-glass Tiffany window originally designed for an Ohio church has sold for $12.48 million at auction. This is the first time the window has come to auction in 24 years and the sale sets a new auction record for Tiffany Studios. It sold for $2 million back in 2000, which was a world record for a Tiffany window at that time. That was the “thematic precursor” for the Danner Memorial Window 10 years later, Sotheby’s said in a press statement. The museum acquired Garden Landscape, designed in 1912, a three-part window designed by Northrop, last year.

AdvertisementNepo babies can have access to the hottest designers and archival pieces. BI spoke with fashion stylists to learn which of today's nepo babies have the best style. Lori Harvey was complimented for her ability to marry grunge and feminine elements in her looks. "But when you have rich, famous people's closets to raid, you're going to have better options than if not," fashion stylist Payton Dale told Business Insider. Though the lines of who counts as a nepo baby remain up for debate — nepo babies, short for nepotism babies, are usually thought of as successful individuals who benefit from their parents' or other relative's success in the same or similar industries — BI reached out to Dale, as well as fashion stylists Maiya Simone and Turner Allen, to learn which nepo babies have the best style.

Since the invention of the internet in 1983, traditional domain names have been used across many websites. AccessibilityToday, there are millions of traditional domain names registered on the internet. Ultimately, as the accessibility of traditional domain names declines, personalized web addresses like .pro become a necessity. A .pro domain can set a business apart because it's personalized and more descriptive than a traditional domain. The .pro domain shows a degree of proficiency and seriousness of a company that a legacy domain would struggle to achieve.

CNN —If Earth’s astronomical observatories were to pick up a signal from outer space, it would require an all-hands-on-deck effort to untangle and decipher the extraterrestrial message. The message, decoded by Ken Chaffin and daughter Keli, is not static but is in motion as the white dots are arranged into the five amino acids. The message is not static but is in motion and only displays the arrangement for about one-tenth of a second. The project’s designers confirmed that amino acids are the intended message, but they are leaving the interpretation open. The project team intentionally created a complex message, with some team members predicting it could take weeks or even years to be decoded.

Fast furniture isn't holding up. JulezzzAUS/ShutterstockSamantha Lund, the CEO and principal designer at Simply Sam, told BI that she doesn't like the increase in fast furniture — like ready-to-assemble or flat-pack pieces from large chains. "The trend of buying cheap, disposable furniture has negative impacts on both the environment and personal style," she said. "These pieces often lack quality and character, leading to frequent replacements and increased waste." Lund said it's better to invest in well-made, timeless pieces if it's in the budget or shop secondhand for cheaper finds that still have character.

Major equipment suppliers in Europe say that U.S. chip designers are calling on them to lower their water temperatures to accommodate the hotter AI chips, according to Herbert Radlinger, managing director at NDC-GARBE. Energy efficiency is high on the European Commission's agenda, as it seeks to reach its goal of reducing energy consumption by 11.7% by 2030. The EU predicted in 2018 that energy consumption of data centers could rise 28% by 2030, but the advent of AI is expected to boost that number two or threefold in some countries. Many of the recent discussions have focused on different ways to source "prime power" for AI data centers and for the potential for more collaboration with utilities, said Steven Carlini, chief advocate of AI and data centers and vice president at Schneider Electric. Liquid cooling will require a "reconfiguration," Gunen explained, adding that new data centers are already coming ready with this technology.

To be sure, a Bloomberg report earlier Tuesday that the U.S. government was considering a cap on AI chip exports to certain Persian Gulf nations may also have dampened industry sentiment. Investors are sensitive to any updates on AI chip demand, given the dramatic rise in the stocks of Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom and others over the past two years. Bottom line Artificial intelligence is alive and well, according to TSMC, which has emerged as the most valuable window into AI demand other than Nvidia itself. With Big Tech earnings in the coming weeks, it's particularly nice to see the AI chip trade stabilize after the ASML debacle. Jim said Thursday that AMD, which has way underperformed Nvidia, Broadcom and the broader market, is "still a bargain."

Joan of Arc: Why does her image still resonate?

CNN —More than 800 years after her birth, Joan of Arc — a patron saint of France — remains an object of not just historical, but cultural fascination. Humble beginningsOne of five children in a peasant family in Domrémy, in north-eastern France, Joan was born in the year 1412. The Amazonian image of Joan of Arc in armor is perhaps the most recurrent one in popular culture, inspiring thousands, if not hundreds and thousands, of similar depictions. It also provided the inspiration for Carl Theodore Dreyer’s silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) starring Renée Jeanne Falconetti.
