“The study tested whether or not reducing the amount of acid in our diet reduces the kidney disease- and heart disease-related complications of high blood pressure,” he said. “We’ve known this for a long time but it’s good to have less kidney disease added to the benefits,” she said. Eating more fruits and veggies promotes heart and kidney health, especially in people with hypertension, a new study found. Medication intervention is still an important part of managing blood pressure, kidney disease and heart disease, Wesson said. “A largely, but not necessarily exclusively, plant-based diet is demonstrably associated with overall good health, reduced chronic disease prevalence — kidney disease too — and premature mortality,” Nestle said.

You could get a mushroom that has a little bit more or a little bit less psilocybin ... which, depending on the activity of the day, might be more than you bargained for. Some corporate elites are seeking out psychedelic retreats to improve their leadership skills, shift their perceptions, and, in some cases, even bond with their teams. My main concern is that people understand the risk, any risk — bad-trip risk, psychiatric risk, or legal risk. It’s the first day of your beach vacation and you stayed out in the sun a little (or a lot) too long. A sunburn is your skin cells’ reaction to damage from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. In a first-degree sunburn, the top layer of skin, called the epidermis, is injured, resulting in redness, pain and swelling. Second-degree sunburns are more severe because the next layer of skin, called the dermis, is also harmed. On darker skin, sunburns are harder to notice at first because redness is less apparent.

It’s the first time in 50 years that a federal grant has been given to study a psychedelic drug as a possible treatment. The study, a randomized controlled trial expected to start later this year, will investigate whether psilocybin, the psychedelic compound found in “magic mushrooms,” can help people quit smoking tobacco. Hopkins researchers will lead the trial, which will be done in collaboration with researchers at NYU Langone Health and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In a study published in August, researchers found that psilocybin helped drinkers reduce alcohol cravings. Typically in studies using psychedelics, participants receive the drug during a monitored session with a therapist, which can last hours.
CNN —Despite improving stock rates, many families with new babies in the United States are still having trouble finding baby formula. But stock rates are still worse than they were before the formula shortage hit. My baby’s 7 months old now.”Throughout the formula shortage, quantifying the severity of the situation has been challenging. The Census survey data adds an important measure of personal experience to the mix, but it has limitations, too. About half of all baby formula sold in the United States is purchased with WIC benefits.
Bogenschutz and his team specifically set out to test whether or not psilocybin, in addition to sessions of therapy, could cut cravings and help people with alcohol use disorder stay sober. Earlier research from institutions around the world has indicated that psilocybin has the potential to treat a variety of addiction disorders, including alcohol use disorder, opioid use disorder and addiction to smoking. Jon KostasWhen he began the psilocybin trial at age 25, he was consuming almost 23 drinks in a single bender. At the beginning of the first dose sessions, participants were given eye masks and headphones that played classical music. Bogenschutz said the rule of thumb with alcohol addiction treatment is that about one-third of patients who seek treatment will get better.
