— The New England Patriots are making a change at head coach, splitting with Jerod Mayo just one year after he replaced Bill Belichick. The Patriots are expected to begin their search for a new head coach immediately, and, according to league sources, the early signs point to one person. During his on-field speech at halftime, Vrabel, still the Titans head coach, even said, “We’ve got a game to win,” in reference to the Patriots. He spent five years as a position coach with the Patriots and only ever worked for one coach: Belichick. Sources from within the Patriots’ previous regime expressed skepticism that Mayo was ready to be a head coach.

Veteran wide receiver Rashee Rice is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury against the Chargers. Second-round wide receiver Ladd McConkey had a career-high 67 yards Sunday and leads the team with 173 receiving yards. Fourth-round tight end Erick All has been a surprise with 12 catches, but third-round wide receiver Jermaine Burton has been a disappointment.
