The UK's finance minister Jeremy Hunt has laid out a £55 billion package of tax rises and spending cuts. The government wants to restore credibility after a prior tax plan drove the pound to an all-time low. The fiscal plan will be divided roughly equally between tax rises and spending cuts, Hunt said. That goes contrary to the tax plan laid out by former finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng, which called for huge tax cuts.
