June 15 (Reuters) - Adobe Inc (ADBE.O) surpassed Wall Street estimates for quarterly results and forecast on Thursday as the Photoshop maker's efforts to drive up demand with generative artificial intelligence (AI) integrations paid off. Adobe's spree to boost AI innovation has been evident by AI features being introduced into Acrobat, Express, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Analysts see generative AI as both a near- and long-term benefit to both the creative and experience businesses, which could be a catalyst to 2024 revenue growth. Focus continues to remain on the impact of generative AI and the pending close of the Figma deal. Adobe has been waiting to finalize its $20 billion buyout deal for the cloud-based designer platform, with management expecting an initial ruling this month.

Reporting results on a constant-currency basis can be beneficial to global companies whose results have been hit by swings in foreign-exchange rates. To report on a constant-currency basis, companies must have a full understanding of their exposure to foreign-exchange rates, Mr. Koester said. Revenue was $4.43 billion, up 13% year-over-year on a reported basis and 15% on a constant-currency basis. Ralph Lauren Corp. said in August that its fiscal first-quarter revenue grew 8% on a reported basis and 13% on a constant-currency basis. Many companies are taking a pause on acquisitions as a cocktail of worrying economic factors, including high inflation, rising interest rates and market volatility, is sapping the confidence of buyers and sellers. Deal-making activity is expected to remain tepid overall during the fourth quarter compared with 2021, barring an improved economic outlook and lower inflation readings, M&A advisers said. For instance, spinoffs or divestitures could become more popular deal structures as companies review their business models, Refinitiv’s Mr. Toole said. Even a number of early M&A discussions, including about possible financing options, are drying up, M&A advisers said. During the latest quarter, Adobe acquired 5.1 million shares at a cost of $1.8 billion, it said.
