In an exclusive interview with Donald Trump on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday, the president-elect told NBC News' Kristen Welker that Ukraine will "possibly" receive less military aid once he takes office. Trump told Welker of support that has gone to Ukraine since the war began in February 2022. All told, the U.S. has committed more than $62 billion in assistance to Ukraine since the conflict started nearly three years ago. The comments suggest that Zelenskyy's diplomatic skills were to credit for the tens of billions of dollars in U.S. military aid packages, rather than the country's actual needs. "Europe is in for a fraction, and war with Russia is more important for Europe than it is for us," Trump told Welker.

Notre-Dame of Paris Cathedral on December 06, before its reopening. On April 15, 2019, Notre Dame was engulfed in flames. A leading French archbishop said the “star” of the ceremony ought to be Notre Dame itself, and that the pope did not want to distract from the occasion. The Archbishop of Paris Laurent Ulrich will then strike the closed cathedral doors with his crozier, an ornate staff. Read more about the reopening of Notre Dame.

Ulrich will knock on the door of the Notre-Dame three times with a staff crafted from charred wood salvaged from the cathedral’s fire-ravaged roof. He will be met with a rising tide of choir song after each knock before the doors finally swing open. Weil said he was among the first to arrive at the scene of the fire after he saw a string of fire trucks racing toward the cathedral, adding that he was shocked to see the flames. Seeing the “Notre-Dame de Paris” musical on stage for the first time, cemented that passion and she said that she has collected more than a thousand pieces of Notre-Dame memorabilia. “It’s just been like, everything — my whole life has been Notre-Dame,” said MacKinnon, who now runs her own tour company around the cathedral.

CNN —The Notre Dame Cathedral will provide a lofty backdrop for President-elect Donald Trump’s return to the geopolitical stage on Saturday, when French officials put an ornate line under the five-year project to restore the soaring landmark with a reopening ceremony featuring dozens of world leaders. The particulars of Trump’s visit were hashed out over several days, but the president-elect told his team he was keen to attend. “So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris,” Trump posted on April 15, 2019, during his first term in the Oval Office. Jimmy Fallon quipped that the cathedral is “going to burst right back into flames” when Trump steps inside. The French president has made a fresh push to curry favor with the returning president and his allies.

Five years after the flames roared and the world held its breath, Notre Dame cathedral is coming back to life. CNN teams have visited Notre Dame several times since the fire, even as the work ploughed on through Covid-19’s stranglehold on France. But for those soon to revisit Notre Dame, this improbable victory is best seen by looking up. The oak frameworks and lead roofing of the nave, choir and transept of Notre Dame were reconstructed to look exactly like the originals, according to Rebuild Notre Dame. “We use the same materials, oak and stone, and with the same techniques.”The nave of Notre Dame cathedral.

Fine launched Dame, a sexual wellness brand, in 2014, when she was 26 years old. She and her co-founder Janet Lieberman, an MIT-trained mechanical engineer, wanted to design vibrators that could help bridge the "pleasure gap." While Fine never dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur, she did know that she wanted to spend her career talking about sex. Success is a concept that's often misunderstood, Fine adds, with many people assuming it's just about "money, control and power." REUTERS/Gonzalo FuentesPARIS, June 22 (Reuters) - One person is still believed missing in the rubble after a blast ripped through a street near Paris' historic Latin Quarter, Le Parisien newspaper reported on Thursday, citing the Paris police department. The Paris prosecutor's office has said it is too early to establish the cause of Wednesday afternoon's blast, which destroyed the facade of a building housing the Paris American Academy design school popular with foreign students. At least 37 people were injured in the explosion, four of whom are fighting for their lives in hospital. Paris police and the Paris city council did not immediately reply to a Reuters request for comment. Florence Berthout, mayor of the Paris district where the blast occurred, said the 12 students who should have been in the design school's classrooms when the blast occurred had fortunately gone to visit an exhibition with their teacher.

ONE CHILLY Parisian Friday evening five years ago, our French neighbors invited us downstairs for an apéro. As an American expat whose grasp of the language was embarrassingly subpar, I remember dreading this hangout. When my husband and I walked in, there was the expected bottle of Champagne on a low marble table ready for service next to unexpected glassware: Champagne coupes. I had always understood that Champagne should be poured into flutes to maintain the bubbles, and here was my neighbor, a French person who should know, setting out coupes. I’d thought they would be used for cocktails, wine, even desserts.
REUTERS/Luc GnagoKINSHASA, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Around two dozen activists and sexual abuse victims demonstrated in Democratic Republic of Congo's capital on Thursday across the road from a cathedral where Pope Francis was meeting clergy. They held up placards, including some demanding that the pope meet with clergy abuse victims in the country. The demonstration in Kinshasa was organised by Ending Clergy Abuse (ECA), an international group, one of many that have been bringing attention to sexual abuse in the worldwide Church. There were no plans for the pope to meet with victims of sexual abuse in Congo, where about 50% of the population is Roman Catholic. The 86-year-old pope has met with many victims of sexual abuse, both in Rome and on foreign trips.
