AMSTERDAM, Sept 13 (Reuters) - The Dutch digital watchdog is looking into a French report saying Apple's (AAPL.O) iPhone 12 model breaches European Union radiation exposure limits and will ask the U.S. company for an explanation, according to an official quoted by the daily Algemeen Dagblad. "The Netherlands attaches as much importance as France to safe use of mobile phones. Mobile phones must comply with Europeans norms." Germany's network regulator BNetzA said it might launch similar proceedings and was in close contact with French authorities, while Spain's OCU consumers' group urged authorities there to halt the sales of the iPhone 12. AMSTERDAM, July 18 (Reuters) - Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML (ASML.AS) will hire 100 researchers who are leaving Philips (PHG.AS), the companies said on Tuesday. ASML was founded as a joint venture between Philips and ASM International (ASMI.AS) in 1984 and has become Europe's largest technology company by market capitalisation. Philips, a former industrial conglomerate that now focuses on medical technology, has been retrenching and cutting staff after a major recall of respiratory devices. The employees switching companies are from Philips' Engineering Solutions division, including staff working on "mechatronics", the integration of mechanical control systems into electronics. ASML hired a net 7,000 employees in 2022, adding almost 20% to its global workforce, but it is expected to slow that pace this year.

AMSTERDAM, June 8 (Reuters) - Computer chip maker Nexperia, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and owned by a Chinese company, has been denied a request for a subsidy in Germany. A spokesperson for Nexperia, based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, and owned by China's Wingtech (600745.SS), said the company had not been given an explanation for the rejection. Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad initially reported the news, citing a European Commission document. Nexperia has had several plans for projects in Europe disrupted by government concerns in the past year over its Chinese ownership. Nexperia is the former Standard Products division of chipmaker NXP (NXPI.O), spun off in 2016 and acquired by Wingtech in 2018.

The 41-year-old Dutchman was forbidden to donate more semen to clinics, the court ruling said. The decision came after a civil case started by a foundation representing the interests of donor children and Dutch parents who had used the man as a donor. They argued that the man’s continued donations violated the right to a private life of his donor children, whose ability to form romantic relationships are hampered by fears of accidental incest and inbreeding. The man’s mass donations first came to light in 2017 and he was banned from donating to Dutch fertility clinics, where he had already fathered over 100 children.

The 41-year-old Dutchman, identified by de Telegraaf newspaper as Jonathan Meijer, was forbidden to donate more semen to clinics, the court ruling said. The decision came after a civil case started by a foundation representing the interests of donor children and Dutch parents who had used Meijer as a donor. However, he continued to donate abroad, including to the Danish sperm bank Cryos which operates internationally. Meijer also continued to offer himself as a donor on sites matching prospective parents with sperm donors, sometimes using a different name, according to the Algemeen Dagblad daily.

AMSTERDAM, March 20 (Reuters) - Privately held retailer Scotch & Soda, which is based in Amsterdam, has filed a bankruptcy request for its Dutch operations, newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad (FD) reported on Monday, citing a company statement. Scotch & Soda and owner Sun Capital could not immediately be reached for comment. Scotch & Soda Global BV distributes its clothes and has around 225 retail stores globally, including 70 franchise outlets, according to filings at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. The FD reported the company had sales of 342.5 million euros in the twelve months ended May 30, 2022, citing a lawyer who has been appointed curator. The publication comes as the Dutch government is weighing additional restrictions on ASML's exports of older equipment to China. Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Jan. 17 he expected a "good outcome" to discussions with the United States on the matter after meeting with President Joe Biden in Washington. "In addition our most important strategic security partner, the United States, has made an urgent appeal to the Netherlands not to export the EUV technology to China."
