However, WBD's upcoming reboot of the DC universe may help move the needle for Max, according to Bank of America lead media analyst Jessica Reif Ehrlich. AdvertisementWBD is now rebooting its superhero franchise with the DC Universe, or DCU for short, which will have films with interconnected storylines like Marvel has. Reif Ehrlich said new DC films and series could be cross-sold across Max, cable, and free, ad-supported streaming TV channels. AdvertisementAlthough WBD's cable channels are suffering as millions of US households cut the cord, Reif Ehrlich said this dual-distribution method is an effective marketing mechanism. "WBD can employ this same playbook to promote the launch of the new DC universe and other high-value content," Reif Ehrlich wrote.

CNN —No, we aren’t getting the old Superman back, but James Gunn has dropped some information about what’s to come for the DC superhero. After Henry Cavill posted that he will not be returning as Superman in the DC film franchise, Gunn started a Twitter thread on Wednesday. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill,” Gunn tweeted. Gunn tweeted that he has been writing a new Superman movie “for a while,” adding “We don’t know who is directing yet.”When a follower asked about having Ben Affleck, who has starred as Batman, directing a Superman movie, Gunn didn’t rule it out. “Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project,” Gunn tweeted.
Henry Cavill says he will not return as Superman

CNN —DC fans across the globe collectively mourned Wednesday as British actor Henry Cavill said he will no longer be donning the red cape as Superman in the DC Comics extended cinematic universe. Cavill even made a cameo as Superman in a mid-credits scene at the end of “Black Adam,” the DC film starring Dwayne Johnson. “I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” Cavill wrote. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. CNN —Patty Jenkins has some things she would like to clear up. The director posted a lengthy note on social media to have her say after reports that DC FIlms (which is owned by CNN’s parent company) would not be moving ahead with a third installment of the “Wonder Woman” franchise. “It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. Jenkins also wrote that she does not want “what has been a beautiful journey with WW to land on negative note.”“I have loved and been so honored to be the person who got to make these last two Wonder Woman films. I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.
Editor’s Note: The following contains minor spoilers about “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”CNN —In “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” the aquatic adversary known as Namor wastes no time establishing himself as one of those beguiling but strange characters that can polarize an audience: the ocean-dwelling deity uses conch shells like smartphones and has feathered wings on his ankles. (CNN, DC Films and Warner Bros, which produced “Aquaman,” are part of the same parent company, Warner Bros. Also known as the Sub-Mariner, Namor first appeared in comics in 1939, while DC’s Aquaman debuted in 1941. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” also had the daunting task of presenting Namor’s origins in a way that swam clear of those seen in “Aquaman,” and of doing it a movie not meant to operate solely as an origin story. But before that happens, and thanks to Mejía’s nuanced performance in “Wakanda Forever,” Namor should be able to avoid many more comparisons to other oceanic demigods, and ride his own wave into the future.
There are a lot of Snyder-esque moments in "Black Adam," particularly when it comes to slo-mo action sequences and an overall somber tone. Johnson's Black Adam is a serious-faced anti-hero who isn't afraid to kill a lot of people. "Black Adam" is the perfect encapsulation of both the last nearly decade of DC movies and what the franchise wants to be in the future. For all of its troubles, the DC movie universe had at least seemed to be course correcting. The director, Jaume Collet-Serra, doesn't so much as put his personal touch on it as borrow familiar touches from past Snyder-directed DC movies.
‘Black Adam’ represents the best opening weekend gross ever for a movie with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in a solo leading role, according to Warner Bros.“Black Adam,” the latest superhero movie from Warner Bros. Discovery DC Films studio, opened up to $67 million in domestic ticket sales, the studio said, leading the North American total box office take to its first over-$100 million weekend since July. The movie also represents the best opening weekend gross ever for a movie with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a solo leading role, Warner Bros. said Sunday, surpassing past performances in the Jumanji films and “San Andreas.”
Henry Cavill confirms his return as Superman

It’s Superman… again! Henry Cavill has confirmed what passionate hero-loving moviegoers have been waiting for – the British actor will return to the role of Clark Kent, also known as Superman, in the DC Comics extended cinematic universe. He started off by saying he wanted to wait until after people had a chance to watch “Black Adam” before speaking about his return. “But now that plenty of you have [seen the movie],” Cavill said, “I wanted to make it official: I’m back as Superman.”He thanked the fans “most of all” for their patience. However, many are clamoring for another standalone film for Cavill’s Superman, which would mark the first since 2013’s “Man of Steel.”“Black Adam” took the No.
DC Films’ latest release into the endless superhero pantheon, “Black Adam,” has a lot riding on Dwayne Johnson’s muscled shoulders. Black Adam, one of the regularly scheduled villains in the comic book, was supposed to be his main antagonist. And while “Black Panther” did a great job of making its bad guy both a certifiable badass and a nuanced character, “Black Adam” fails miserably. “Black Adam” has an interesting inkling of an idea: an oppressed culture that needs to overthrow the invading white men. But the midcredit sequence in “Black Adam” unfortunately suggests studio leaders are committed to making the same mistakes all over again.
CNN —“The Flash” actor Ezra Miller has pleaded not guilty on Monday to burglary charges in relation to an alleged Vermont home invasion in which they are accused of stealing alcohol, according to Bennington Criminal Court Operations Manager Wendy Dickie. Miller, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, appeared virtually in the hearing with their attorney, Lisa Shelkrot. They face one felony charge of burglary into an occupied dwelling and one misdemeanor charge of petty larceny, Dickie said. Monday’s arraignment comes after Miller announced they were seeking mental health treatment in August. “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement at the time.
