CNN —Spain was crowned the men’s Olympic soccer champion for the first time since 1992 after beating host France 5-3 after extra time in an all-time great final. Expectations were high for France going into the men’s gold medal match, but the reality of the first half was brutal for Thierry Henry’s side. A lot was riding on French legend Henry, who is used to winning as a player but not as a coach. But France finally came unstuck in extra time as Sergio Camello scored two brilliant chips to make it 5-3 and seal the gold medal for Spain. You have a very strong team like France who can sit back and defend very well, but we were able to break them,” he said.

CNN —Any doubts that Spain remains the fine dining center of the world may just have evaporated with the revealing of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2024 list. As for the event’s host country, the US had two restaurants on this year’s 50 Best list. Three restaurants from Tokyo were awarded, with eatery Sézanne (voted Asia’s best restaurant in 2024) ranking the highest in the Japanese capital, at 15. Restaurants can only win the top prize once, after which they’re entered into a separate “Best of the Best” program. The world’s 50 best restaurants 20241.

Sept 1 (Reuters) - Geoffrey Soupe came out on top in the predicted sprint finish to win a crash-ridden stage seven of the Vuelta a Espana on Friday. "I didn't think it was possible to win a stage because it's really, really, really fast in the sprint," Soupe said. "Yet today it's really nervous in the final (sprint), we have a lot of roundabouts, a lot of wind also. Groves, winner of stages four and five, managed to win the intermediate sprint to maintain his grip on the Green jersey. An earlier crash saw Geraint Thomas and Kim Heiduk of Ineos Grenadiers involved, with the Welshman needing treatment before returning to the bunch.

When shoppers purchase from brands that partner with Catch, they'll get 5-10% back in credit to spend at that store. While DTC brands historically spent a lot to acquire new customers , changes to iOS tracking have made targeted ads less effective. Credit-card companies have also been doing cash-back rewards for years, but those programs don't really benefit brands. PostscriptFondue is another startup looking to revamp loyalty programs by zeroing in on cash-back rewards.

One turtle laid 80 eggs in the town of Denia on Saturday, and another laid 62 in Gandia on Monday, which are both in the eastern Valencia region, the Oceanographic Foundation said. Loggerheads turtles used to nest mainly in the eastern Mediterranean, in countries such as Turkey, Cyprus and Greece, but for some years the coasts of Spain, France and Italy have been recording an increased presence of loggerhead turtle egg clutches. Warmer waters have attracted the turtles, biologist Ana Liria, head of ADS Biodiversidad, a charity based in Gran Canaria, told Reuters in April. When those turtles grow up, they will form part of program to help their survival. The remainder of the eggs were taken to a protected beach in the Albufera Natural Park to avoid contact with passers-by.

Tradiţia spune că în următoarele zile se ţine post negru, adică se mânâncă abia după asfinţitul soarelui. În Lunea Mare credincioşii pot mânca bucate, dar să nu fie pregătite în ulei. În a treia zi din săptămână, potrivit Bibliei, credincioşii îşi amintesc de păcătoasa care se pocăieşte în faţa Domnului şi de Iuda, ucenicul care l-a vândut pe Hristos. Este ziua în care Hristos a fost răstignit şi a murit pe cruce.
