The number was higher among young adults, with 37% of people ages 18 to 29 saying they turn to influencers for news. Pew surveyed 10,000 adults and analyzed 500 news influencers, which it defined as individuals who regularly post about current events and have over 100,000 followers on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube. “And these influencers have really reached new levels of attention and prominence this year amid the presidential election.”The rise of social media influencers, and in particular news-focused creators, has been slowly embraced by politicians in recent years. The Republican convention in Milwaukee hosted more than 70 influencers as part of a content creator program. Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris both appeared on podcasts hosted by popular online personalities ahead of the election.

But it’s something politicians have struggled with achieving on their own — particularly amid an election cycle in which many young voters find themselves jaded with politics as a whole. Overall, young voters are not very optimistic right now, according to NBC News’ Stay Tuned Gen Z poll of over 2,600 voters under 30 in September. Still, Piker’s success as a streamer has been admired by fellow political creators, especially those who are chasing similar progressive audiences. The global personal fitness trainer market was worth about $41.8 billion in 2023, and market research firm Future Market Insights predicts it will soar to $65.5 billion by 2033. A growing body of research also suggests working out with a personal trainer has a variety of benefits. The two biggest benefits from hiring a personal trainer, though, whether you’re an exercise newbie or a pro, are accountability and motivation, said Mary Wing, a certified personal trainer and performance coach with the fitness app Future. There are trainers who specialize in training older people or those with medical issues, says certified personal trainer Allan Misner. In the end, though, hiring a personal trainer can be a safe and effective way to achieve a healthier life, which is the main goal.

According to a McKinsey report from 2022 based on a decade of data, role transitions are inherent in labor markets. The generative AI platform dubs itself a "tutor for learners" and an "assistant for teachers." Meanwhile, nonprofit organization All Star Code had a scholar visualize themselves progressing in their tech career over the next decade by creating a 30-second video using generative AI platform Runway. There lies the ultimate caveat in AI-enabled career transitions. Panetta feels like the human role in hiring — regardless of the qualifications of candidates — will play a potentially bigger role in career transitions.

Little did Hall know, her pivot into education would afford her a new level of financial security and a sense of purpose she never expected. She took a high school science position with Arlington Preparatory Academy, a public school in Baton Rouge, La., and had her first day in January 2022. Then there's the issue of teacher pay. In 2022, the average public school teacher earned a wage of $1,329 per week. Though Hall recognizes low teacher pay is an issue for many in the profession, moving to education actually meant a pay bump in her case.

JPMorgan Chase is stepping up its appeal to small business customers by planning to offer digital payroll processing, CNBC has learned. The bank has picked San Francisco-based fintech player Gusto to provide the underlying technology for the feature, according to Gusto CEO Josh Reeves. "If you're a customer of Chase payments solutions, you can go to payroll from the same exact place you do banking," Reeves said. It's part of a larger battle for the loyalty of American retail and business customers as fintech players including PayPal and Square morph into do-everything providers that threaten traditional banks. JPMorgan has previously rolled out fintech features, including a Square-like credit card reader for small businesses and early direct deposit for consumers.

AI is already sending waves throughout education, with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates saying AI chatbots can teach kids to read in 18 months rather than years. Younger generations are surrounded by digital tools, and experts say it's only a matter of time before classrooms are immersed in AI. AI for routine learning, teachers for personalized lessonsAI, and specifically chatbots backed by programmed large language models, can help students, from primary education to certification programs, self-guide through voluminous materials and tailor their education to specific learning styles. With the rise of AI, teachers can transition from being a general practitioner to more of a specialist, where they can focus on helping kids with particular issues and specific concepts, he added. AI can also help teachers leverage existing knowledge and content, so they can repurpose it and dramatically reduce their workload, Guo said.

Washington CNN —Days after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman testified in front of Congress and proposed creating a new federal agency to regulate artificial intelligence, a US senator has introduced a bill to do just that. On Thursday, Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet unveiled an updated version of legislation he introduced last year that would establish a Federal Digital Platform Commission. And for the most significant platforms — companies the bill calls “systemically important” — the bill would create requirements for algorithmic audits and public risk assessments of the harms their tools could cause. The debate over whether the US government should establish a separate federal agency to police AI tools may become a significant focus of those efforts following Altman’s testimony this week. Altman suggested in a Senate hearing on Tuesday that such an agency could restrict how AI is developed through licenses or credentialing for AI companies.
A new C-suite role of chief AI officer is comingAsha Palmer, senior vice president of compliance solutions at digital learning platform Skillsoft, says every C-suite has executives who oversee privacy and data, so AI could prompt the creation of a chief AI officer and entire departments overseeing AI security. As AI takes off, a chief AI officer will be a key decision maker over tech priorities that filter down through the organization. Companies need to take precaution and set up guardrails to oversee AI use, Palmer said, and that starts with training employees on how to use chatbots and generative AI. "For companies using or buying AI, they should ask AI companies what their transparency metrics are, how often they audit and check these, and ask them to make this information public facing." Office workers face a challenge, but it is the roles in middle management, specifically, he said, "where it's ambiguous how AI will impact them."
Washington DC CNN —The US airline industry is about to be hit with a “tsunami of pilot retirements” that will further the nation’s pilot shortage, limiting flight availability for passengers and putting upward pressure on fares, an industry group told Congress Wednesday. Black’s group represents the regional carriers which provide feeder service for the larger airlines such as American, United (UAL)and Delta (DAL). But the union representing most US airline pilots urged Congress against changing pilot qualification and training standards in an attempt to address the pilot shortage, saying some ideas would compromise safety. The Regional Airline Association, representing carriers that connect major cities to smaller regional airports, noted that the airlines are not the only destination for pilots with that qualification and warned of a significant pilot shortage that will get worse with a “tsunami” of retirements. Senior airline pilots frequently fly international routes, but international rules have an age 65 limit.
The GOP movement toward "school choice" is gaining momentum in many states. GOP presidential candidates have promised to send more public money to private schools. While battles over how classrooms should teach about race and LGBTQ topics have fired up the GOP base, the expansion of school vouchers is taking hold in red states. Spar said vouchers amounted to "using taxpayer money to go to private schools and home schools with practically no accountability." As Congress then turned its attention toward COVID pandemic relief, at least one bill that didn't pass had funding for private schools and homeschooling.
The cloud has become a key piece of private-equity firm THL's investment playbook. But for THL, the cloud has become an important part of the investing giant's playbook for winning over acquisition targets. He likened the due diligence and courtship process for founders and CEOs to speed dating with a bunch of investment firms. But the cloud, with its promise of cost savings and easy innovation, is helping THL stand out in the bidding process, Benaquista said. Eventually, as part of the move to the cloud, THL was able to split up Ten-X's commercial and residential businesses with the aim of selling the former.

Therefore, experts say, hiring Black teachers is necessary to address the racial disparities that lead to poor educational outcomes and criminalization for Black children. Furthermore, advocates say that Black students who don’t have Black teachers are less likely to become teachers themselves, so commitments to diversifying the industry must start early on in the classroom. The Black Teacher Project in Oakland, California, works with Black teachers to “reimagine schools as communities of liberated learning,” the Project’s website reads. It also teaches educators how to implement restorative practices in their classrooms and invites them to retreats to foster community among Black teachers. “Therefore, the Black Teacher Project’s motto is ‘Every child deserves a Black teacher.’”
Together, these revenue streams mean cryptocurrency influencers profit off their viewers no matter which way the market turns. Of course, crypto YouTube is a far cry from the regulated world of traditional finance. Armstrong told the Post that he made "maybe close to a million" from before dropping sponsored content in January 2022. A price list leaked by ZachXBT appears to show that dozens of small crypto influencers also have menus for similar undisclosed deals. But with little regulatory oversight, crypto influencers show little sign of slowing down — despite the precipitous decline of the crypto market.

A good tax professional goes way beyond preparing your tax return — they can help you plan for the future and avoid costly mistakes. But a few years ago, I started working with a certified public accountant to do my taxes, and I've never looked back. I pay my CPA $350 each year to file my taxes, but I handle my regular bookkeeping on my own. Here are a few reasons why I decided that working with a CPA or an EA (Enrolled Agent) makes a lot of sense. Every year brings tax law changes, whether from new laws passed by Congress, old laws expiring, or regular changes to keep up with inflation.
