TERMINI IMERSE, Italy — Prosecutors said there "could be a question of manslaughter" as they opened an investigation into the deaths of seven people after a superyacht sank while anchored off the Sicilian coast Monday. Divers scouring the wreckage of the superyacht that sank off the Sicilian coast have found the body of the last person missing from the luxury boat, believed to be the daughter of a British tech magnate. The body of Mike Lynch's 18-year-old daughter Hannah was discovered early Friday, the Italian Coast Guard said, according to the Associated Press news agency — the culmination of a challenging five-day rescue operation. One other body, of the ship’s cook Recaldo Thomas, was recovered shortly after the accident. The local prosecutor's office has launched an investigation, though no cause or possible suspects had been publicly identified. Italian prosecutors investigating the case have scheduled a news conference on Saturday.

CNN —Human brain samples collected at autopsy in early 2024 contained more tiny shards of plastic than samples collected eight years prior, according to a preprint posted online in May. “Compared to autopsy brain samples from 2016, that’s about 50% higher,” Campen said. Nanoplastics are the most worrisome plastics for human health, experts say, because the minuscule pieces can take up residence inside individual cells. In that report, the consortium determined plastics are associated with harms to human health at every single stage of the plastic lifecycle. A March 2024 study found 1 liter of bottled water — the equivalent of two standard-size bottled waters typically purchased by consumers — contained an average of 240,000 plastic particles from seven types of plastics.

Many Buffett followers view the accelerated sale of his top holdings as a pessimistic call on markets and the economy. Buffett was selling stocks last quarter when the S & P 500 rose to an all-time high in anticipation that the U.S. would skirt a recession while squashing inflation. When Buffett trimmed the Apple stake by 13% in the first quarter, he hinted at the Berkshire annual meeting in May that it was for tax reasons. After a while, I began to wonder how and when things were supposed to change now that I had a partner. I had been independent for so long before I met my husband that I had gotten used to doing everything on my own. So, I asked a close girlfriend what she and her husband did as far as the housework went. I asked her how they decided, and she said that if there was something she really didn't enjoy doing, then she would ask if her husband minded doing that and vice versa. I really love my husband, and I didn't want to harbor feelings of resentment over things like chores around the house.
