Red Bull's Max Verstappen wins U.S. Grand Prix sprint race
  + stars: | 2024-10-19 | by ( ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
Red Bull Racing's Dutch driver Max Verstappen celebrates winning the United States Formula One Sprint at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on October 19, 2024. He now trails Verstappen by 54 points with six grand prix and two sprint races left in the season. Verstappen has won the U.S. Grand Prix the last three years but has not started the race from pole position since 2021. The sprint victory should renew Red Bull's confidence it has improved a car that Verstappen has alternately called "undrivable" and "a monster" at time this season. The once-dominant Verstappen had not scored a victory of any kind since the Austrian Grand Prix sprint race back in June, and his last victory in a grand prix came a week earlier in Spain.

Wind-tunnel testing is crucial for Formula 1 teams to study and optimize a car's aerodynamics. Months of testing go into the development of each race car — and wind-tunnel testing is critical in this process. "Wind-tunnel testing is simply the most important development tool you have," said Guenther Steiner, a former team principal of the Haas F1 team who's now an ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix. Love it or hate it, artificial intelligence has become increasingly prevalent in our lives. Frankie Deane, senior vice president of growth for the British brand Monica Vinader, said A.I. was “another form of us utilizing technology to elevate our digital experience for consumers.” When it comes to providing an elevated product and in-store experience, “there is a greater expectation I think on brands like us to translate that digitally,” she said. While the overall project was still in a testing phase, some elements began to be introduced in March. Last year, the Bond Street jeweler David Morris was seeking help to create a gifting advertising campaign for its everyday pieces, which start at £1,500.

CNN —Just four races into the Formula One season, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes the title is Max Verstappen’s to lose after another dominant win for the Red Bull driver. At the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, three-time world champion Verstappen finished 13 seconds ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez, who was eight seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz in third. Last month, Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix when Verstappen was forced to retire from the race. This is what it is this year.”Toto Wolff was left lamenting Mercedes' slow start to the season after the Japanese Grand Prix. The team leader has remained defiant in his denial of claims of misconduct made to parent company Red Bull, which two weeks ago announced it had launched an independent investigation into the claims. Mark Rushbrook, global head of Ford Performance Motorsport, said Friday at Daytona International Speedway that Ford is awaiting the outcome of the investigation into Horner. "It appears to us, and what we've been told, was that Red Bull is taking the situation very seriously. “I think it’s been very clear and the position of Red Bull has been that it’s business as normal. What Horner has been accused of doing by a Red Bull employee has not been made clear.

For Mercedes, it is a devastating loss, unable to retain a generational talent and the face of its entire motorsport brand. He has been so successful with Mercedes that it’s almost hard to imagine the 39-year-old Briton racing for any other team. Hamilton holds the all-time record for F1 wins (103), achieving 82 of those with Mercedes and 21 with McLaren. This is not to say that her paintings all have the same enviable unity. Schutz attempts something similar in “The Gathering,” which can be read as an allegory of the art world. Sergio Perez was still in Texas when he called the Mexico City Grand Prix his most important race weekend of the season. LONDON, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Red Bull were able to celebrate their second Formula One title double in a row in Japan at the weekend, even if Max Verstappen must wait until October to be confirmed as a triple champion. The fact that Perez is now the only driver who can mathematically beat Verstappen to the title meant Red Bull had done the double for a sixth time. "Only a Red Bull driver can win the championship which is a great way to go into the next few races." That means Verstappen needs only three points to be champion even if the Mexican bags a maximum score at Lusail. It has been 36 races since Verstappen last came away from a weekend without scoring at least three points.

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium, July 30 (Reuters) - Red Bull suffered a second trophy malfunction in a week on Sunday after the one handed to the winning constructor at the Belgian Grand Prix was broken after a celebratory team photograph. In Hungary last Sunday the porcelain race winner's trophy handed to Max Verstappen toppled off the podium and smashed after McLaren's Lando Norris popped his champagne by bashing the bottle on the ground. "It's broken again, the trophy's broken again," Verstappen, who has now won eight in a row and leads the championship by 125 points, shouted in footage posted by Red Bull on Instagram. Video showed team members rushing towards the camera as others sprayed cans of Red Bull. "Ready for summer-BREAK," the team commented, with the video showing team members trying to reassemble it.

Reuters is revealing details of the Diego Garcia project and SubCom’s deepening ties with the Pentagon. SubCom’s loyalty is especially important because it is the only major U.S. subsea cable company. Rather, they carefully obscured the U.S. military component within a larger private-sector cable project, according to four subsea cable industry sources with knowledge of the arrangement. That project, known as the Oman Australia Cable, was spearheaded by SUBCO, a Brisbane-based subsea cable investment company owned by Australian entrepreneur Bevan Slattery. Verstappen favourite for Red Bull's 100th win

Red Bull have won 23 of the last 26 races, and 17 of the last 18, and will be only the fifth constructor to hit 100. Verstappen won last year in Canada from pole position ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, the seven times world champion who has won a record-equalling seven times there. "Of course, last year's win is still in my mind so hopefully we can do something similar this weekend," said Verstappen. Mercedes overtook Aston Martin for second place in the constructors' standings after Spain, where they were Red Bull's closest rivals. Ferrari received a morale boost last weekend when they won the Le Mans 24 Hours and enjoyed a strong weekend in Montreal last year.

The quake killed at least 36,187 in southern Turkey, while authorities in neighbouring Syria have reported 5,800 deaths - a figure that has changed little in days. While several people were found alive in Turkey on Wednesday, the number of rescues has dwindled significantly. Neither Turkey nor Syria have said how many people are still missing. More than 4,000 fatalities have been reported in the rebel-held northwest, but rescuers say nobody has been found alive there since Feb. 9. Deliveries from Turkey were severed completely in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, when a route used by the United Nations was temporarily blocked.

The purchase comes three months after Sauber confirmed they would become Audi's strategic partner when the German marque enters Formula 1 in 2026. In a statement sent to Sky Sports, an Audi spokesperson said this is a "key milestone" for the German's F1 entry in 2026.

The World Cup favourites trained behind closed doors at the Al Arabi Stadium on Saturday and coach Tite gave no clue about team selection in his news conference on Sunday. The versatile 21-year-old forward played in Neymar's position in three practice games in Turin before the World Cup. "I believe that Neymar and Danilo will play again in the World Cup," said on Sunday. "I believe we will be able to count on them in the World Cup again."
