CNN —The Israeli military said Monday that Omer Maxim Neutra, an American-Israeli citizen who was previously believed to be alive and held hostage in Gaza, was killed during the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023. Neutra, 21, served as a tank platoon commander in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during the time of the attack, the IDF said, adding that Neutra’s body is still being held hostage in Gaza. In previous cases when a hostage was declared dead, the finding was based on new intelligence and evidence. We consider it a missed opportunity.”Neutra was one of seven American citizens held in Gaza. According to Israeli authorities, Hamas is holding 101 hostages in Gaza – 97 taken on October 7, 2023 and four others who were kidnapped before that.

CNN —Australian police seized the country’s largest haul of cocaine aboard a fishing boat that had broken down near the coast of Queensland, arresting 13 people alleged to be part of a drug-smuggling syndicate. Authorities tracked a recreational fishing boat as it traveled out to sea where it allegedly met a mothership in international waters to fetch the cocaine – some 2.34 metric tons with a street value of nearly half a billion dollars. Police seized their chance to board the boat, arresting two men at sea in a joint investigation between federal and local forces. Police found 2.34 metric tons of cocaine wrapped in bales with roped netting around them on a recreational fishing vessel. Among the haul was 225 metric tons of cocaine, 5 tons of which was found aboard a semi-submersible vessel plying a marine trafficking route from Colombia to Australia, according to the Colombian Navy.

The Wall Street bank has a buy rating on Mahindra's stock, with a price target of 3,520.00 Indian rupees ($41), which points to 18% upside potential. MAHM-IN 1Y line Mahindra & Mahindra said the vehicles will have a range of up to 682 kilometers (424 miles) with the larger battery option. He has a price target of 3,420 rupees on the stock, which represents 15% upside and is also the median price target of all analysts covering the stock. CNN —Five people have been reported missing from a fishing boat that capsized in rough waters off the coast of southeastern Alaska, officials said. The US Coast Guard received a mayday call at 12:10 a.m. Sunday from the crew aboard the 50-foot-long vessel, saying it was overturning, the guard said in a news release. The Coast Guard asked for additional information but received no response, the release said. The ferry vessel AMHS Hubbard overheard an urgent broadcast from the Coast Guard and arrived on the scene first, officials said. Temperatures will warm above freezing on Monday so the heavy snowfall will transition to a rain and snow mix before becoming all rainfall by Tuesday.

That trend has since reversed, and mortgage rates have climbed back up to nearly 7% as investors bet that the Fed will cut rates fewer times than initially expected due to recent strong economic data. This helps enable a reliable flow of money to mortgage lenders, allowing them to offer more affordable rates to would-be homebuyers. During the housing meltdown of 2008, the two companies were brought under government control in an effort to stabilize the housing market. Some analysts advocate for full privatization, meaning the government would not provide assurances to backstop the two mortgage companies.
