The agency granted a similar waiver for Amazon's Prime Air program in May, though that was limited to flights in College Station, Texas, one of the cities where it has been conducting tests. Alongside the FAA approval, Matt McCardle, head of regulatory affairs for Prime Air, said the company is starting to make drone deliveries Tuesday near Phoenix, Arizona. Prime Air encountered regulatory hurdles, missed deadlines and had layoffs last year, coinciding with widespread cost-cutting efforts by CEO Andy Jassy. In response, Amazon executives told residents the company would identify a new drone delivery launch site by October 2025. WATCH: How Amazon's drone delivery program stacks up to competitors

The technology has been a key tool for other drone delivery companies, such as Zipline, looking to operate beyond visual line of sight, or BVLOS. The e-commerce giant's drone delivery service, Prime Air, has struggled since Amazon founder Jeff Bezos laid out his vision for the program more than a decade ago. Last month, Amazon said it would end its drone operations in California and begin deliveries in Phoenix, Arizona, later this year.

In 2018, right before I graduated from high school, my parents said I could build a tiny house in their backyard, and live rent-free. AdvertisementMy dad and I built the tiny house togetherIn a way, a piece of the structure had already existed on the property. AdvertisementMy tiny house has the basics but on a much smaller scaleWhen you step inside the tiny house, there's the kitchen, which has a love seat, lower cabinets, a countertop, and appliances. For example, there's a shower, but because it's in a tiny house, the shower is smaller than your typical shower would be. Living tiny taught me a lot and made me think of what's truly important to me.

But instead of going national with its late-night business, Chipotle is targeting "college towns that eat the most Chipotle," the chain announced Wednesday. The fresh-Mex chain, which has more than 3,250 restaurants, said 53 college towns will stay open until midnight on Halloween – a busy night for the brand. "Over the past two years, Chipotle has seen a 30 percent increase in transactions after 8 p.m. on Halloween and 81 percent of 18- to 26-year-olds surveyed reported wanting to see Chipotle open until midnight," the chain said.

An Amazon delivery drone is on display at Amazon's BOS27 Robotics Innovation Hub in Westborough, Massachusetts on November 10, 2022. Jim Mullin, Prime Air's chief pilot, left Amazon last month, according to his LinkedIn profile. Just as Prime Air was set to launch early this year and start delivering packages sent to consumers, CEO Andy Jassy, who succeeded Bezos in 2021, embarked on the largest round of layoffs in company history, which included significant job cuts at Prime Air. But problems for Prime Air predated the economic downturn. At the beginning of the year, the company began durability and reliability (D&R) testing, which requires that Prime Air complete several hundred hours of flying without any incidents.
