Poor water quality levels in the River Seine had led to the cancellation of numerous training swims and forced the postponement of the men’s triathlon, which was scheduled for Tuesday.
About $1.5 billion (1.4 billion Euros) was spent trying to clean up the river ahead of the Games.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo swam in the river earlier this month to display her confidence in the river’s water quality.
