Thailand’s foreign ministry said it was “profoundly saddened” by the death of a Thai worker in northern Israel on Friday, according to a statement.
The Thai foreign ministry disputed that account, saying the death, and the injury of another of its nationals, had resulted from “an explosion of dropped ammunition” without providing additional details.
The statement said the embassy was working to evacuate 10 additional Thai nationals from the kibbutz where the incident had occurred.
The agriculture industry in Israel has employed thousands of Thai nationals to tend crops and work in dairies.
Thais made up the largest group of foreign nationals killed in the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.
