Tickets for the 2023 Series, in which the Texas Rangers clinched their first championship, cost about $776 on average across five games, TickPick said. CNN —The New York Yankees clinched an American League Championship Series (ALCS) spot on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals which saw them take the American League Division Series (ALDS) by the same score. Starter Gerrit Cole was the game’s dominant force, giving up just one run and six hits across seven innings, striking out four. The victory sees New York advance to the 19th Championship Series in its history, four more than any other franchise. Kansas City, meanwhile, has now lost its last nine games at Kauffman Stadium. It was the closest Kansas City would come, Aaron Judge recording the final out in the ninth to send New York through.

Diamond Sports — the owner of Bally Sports-branded regional sports networks — said Wednesday that it plans to drop all MLB teams from its channels except for the Atlanta Braves. A Diamond attorney made the comments before a U.S. bankruptcy judge on Wednesday as part of an update on the company's ongoing bankruptcy process and attempt at finalizing a reorganization plan. Some of those teams were already slated to see their contracts end this season, and some contracts are not being determined by the bankruptcy process, a Diamond spokesperson said. "To be clear, rejecting these teams is not our preferred path," Diamond attorney Andrew Goldman said on Wednesday. Goldman said Diamond had warned the league about this outcome in August, noting it was a possibility if the MLB rejected Diamond's latest proposal.

The two-time AL MVP’s fifth-inning solo shot brought him to 46 on the season, matching his career best for the Los Angeles Angels in 2021.
