☆ Delphi murders suspect confessed to crimes in prison

Prosecutors say Allen actually confessed over 60 times to the murders while in prison, to his wife, his mother, family members, the prison warden, the psychologist who treated him in prison, other prison employees and other inmates. The jury on Thursday heard recordings of seven prison phone calls Allen made to his wife and mother, according to WTHR. Monica Wala, the prison psychologist who treated Allen at Westville Correctional Facility, testified for the prosecution that he confessed to the crimes multiple times, once in great detail, according to WTHR. He also spoke about wanting to go back and change his actions and apologize to the families, Wala testified. He had a serious mental health history and had experienced both major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder, Wala testified during cross-examination.

The pending perjury trial of three retired Philadelphia police detectives could prove an exception, if they themselves are not cleared by alleged mistakes by District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office. Former detectives Martin Devlin, Manuel Santiago and Frank Jastrzembski have asked a judge to dismiss the case. That trial testimony was still fair game when Krasner, a civil rights lawyer focused on criminal justice reform, took office in 2018. He charged the Wright detectives in 2021, days before the five-year deadline expired. Last year, a mistake by prosecutors sank a police perjury case in Manhattan, when a judge halted the trial over their failure to turn over evidence to the defense.

Ceremonia de preluare a mandatului de preşedinte de către Joe Biden va fi una restrânsă, desfăşurată în condiţii speciale, din cauza pandemiei de Covid-19. Este pentru prima oară în ultimii 151 de ani când un președinte refuză să participe la ceremonia de învestire a succesorului său. Ultima oară, un astfel de eveniment s-a petrecut în 1869, când președintele Andrew Johnson a refuzat să participe la învestirea succesorului său, Ulysses Grant.

Potrivit caleaeuropeana.ro, tema din acest an a Bucharest Forum este centrată în jurul rezilienţei sistemelor financiare, instituţiilor şi sistemelor politice şi a societăţilor în ansamblul lor, în contextul transformărilor profunde generate la nivel global de pandemia COVID-19. Bucharest Forum este un eveniment organizat de Institutul Aspen România şi Biroul din Bucureşti al The German Marshall Fund of the United States, în parteneriat cu Guvernul României. Vorbitor principal în cadrul Bucharest Forum va fi secretarul general adjunct al NATO, Mircea Geoană, fost preşedinte al Institutului Aspen din România şi gazda Bucharest Forum în primele sale şapte ediţii. Prima zi a evenimentului va găzdui de asemenea o discuţie pe tema relaţiilor transatlantice între Amb.
