One person was detained Sunday after three people died in a house fire in Temple City. Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were sent to the home in the 6000 block of Sultana Avenue at around 4:50 p.m. and were able to knock down the fire in 30 minutes. But due to a “heavy heat” from the flames, three people died, the department said. “Unfortunately they arrived to heavy smoke and fire showing from the front of the building,” Fred Fielding with the LA County Fire Department said. “I saw the whole house inside was full on fire -- fire coming out of the windows,” said Jane Guzman De Leon, who called 911.

One accuses Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl at an after-party following the 2000 VMAs. In one of the lawsuits, filed in the Southern District of New York, a woman is accusing the hip-hop mogul of drugging and raping her when she was 13 while at an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Those celebrities are only identified in the lawsuit as "Celebrity A" and "Celebrity B." Combs' attorneys have consistently denied any accusations of sexual assault. "After the male celebrity finished, Combs then vaginally raped Plaintiff while the Celebrity A and Celebrity B watched," the lawsuit alleges.

The USS Growler is the only nuclear missile submarine in the US that's open to the public. The submarine is now an attraction at the Intrepid Museum in New York City. Granted, the pandemic-induced second hand luxury watch boom peaked back in March 2022, but the market is still going strong, and price levels remain higher than pre-Covid times. “(They’re) a crucial demographic for the growth and evolution of the pre-owned and vintage luxury watch industry,” added Paul Altieri, founder & CEO of multi-brand online luxury marketplace Bob’s Watches. Don't be shy," said Dimepiece's Brynn Wallner of new buyers' potential nerves when it comes to luxury watch stores. How can you tell if a luxury pre-owned watch is the real deal? “Luxury watches of this caliber will go from one generation to the next to the next to the next,” he explained.
AdvertisementFor the leading voices in the uncommitted movement, that's missing the point — and it's insulting. The "Listen to Michigan" campaign was originally conceived in a memo drafted by Waleed Shahid, a progressive strategist and former spokesman for the left-wing group Justice Democrats. "There is an entire menu of things that President Biden could do to move in the direction of discontinuing the funding of the killing," he said. What uncommitted voters are ultimately looking for is a sense of seriousness and clarity that they feel has been lacking from Biden. Uncommitted movement organizers do not seem to be taking glee in embarrassing Biden.

In the South Fordham section of the Bronx, residents give their neighborhood a Bronx cheer. In Park Slope in Brooklyn — known and parodied for its self-consciously liberal politics and wealth — residents are much happier. But if there’s one thing that New Yorkers can agree upon, it’s that the quality of life in New York City has suffered. Less than a third rate the city’s quality of life as excellent or good. Less than a quarter are content with the overall quality of government services.

Defendant Andrew Lester was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action for shooting Ralph Yarl, 16, on the doorstep of his suburban home on April 13. Lester fired two shots through a glass door with a .32-caliber revolver, according to prosecutors. Yarl was struck in the head and an arm, apparently before crossing the threshold or exchanging any words with Lester, according to Clay County prosecutor Zachary Thompson. Lester was freed on his own recognizance soon after being detained following the shooting. His swift release fueled days of protest before he was charged days later and he turned himself back in to police.

A New York City house with Spider-Man's address is for sale for $2.1 million. With 4 beds and 3.5 baths, it's a far shot from Peter Parker's working class upbringing in the comics. 20 Ingram Street in Forest Hills, Queens — the home of the fictional family of Spidey, Aunt May, and Uncle Ben — is currently listed on StreetEasy. "As soon as the comic book identified 20 Ingram as the Spider-Man house, they became flooded," Gigi Malek, the realtor who listed the house, told ABC 7. Now, the home is ready for new owners to take on the task of fielding Spider-Man's mail.
MEXICO CITY — In a trendy part of Mexico City, in a park surrounded by hipster coffeeshops and restaurants, stands a figure dressed in white with hands in prayer like a Catholic statuette: the so-called patron saint against gentrification. Nearly two million foreigners touched down at the Mexico City International Airport in the first half of 2022, inching toward the record 2.5 million arrivals in the first half of 2019. The gap between American and Mexican salaries means even affluent Mexico City residents can get priced out, in a city that is already home to wide wealth disparities. According to Mexico’s statistics agency, the top 10% of Mexico City households earned more than 13 times as much as the bottom 10% of households in 2020. Coronado, an architect and interior designer who lives between Los Angeles and Mexico City, said he understands locals are resentful.
