Dear listeners,On Wednesday night, I was one of approximately 600 sardines crammed into Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom for a very special concert.
We were packed so tightly, I couldn’t move an inch; even clapping felt like a precarious use of my elbows.
Did I mention it is August, in New York, and the humidity has been hovering around 75 percent for days?
Because we were there, in an impossibly small club, seeing the rock legends the Pretenders.
The night before, Chrissie Hynde and company had played for a crowd roughly 100 times larger, opening for Guns N’ Roses at MetLife Stadium.
