We take a closer look at three memorable goals from the group phase of the 2022 World Cup. MethodologyThe 3-D scene was created using photographs and videos of the venues for reference. The positions of the players were determined from a photograph taken at that moment during the play. The player models were created using a machine learning model called ICON, which was created by Yuliang Xiu, Jinlong Yang, Dimitrios Tzionas, Michael J. The models were refined manually using photographs as reference.
