Interior designer Ashley Childers shared her favorite fall decor pieces, and which ones to skip. "I see people go overboard with the faux: faux pumpkins, faux plants, faux everything," she said. However, while some fall decorations can make your home feel warm, elevated, and inviting, others can drain your space of energy and border on tacky. It should be cohesive, in my opinion," Ashley Childers, an interior designer and home furnishings and accessories designer based in Arkansas, told Business Insider. AdvertisementHere are five tasteful fall decorations to add to your home, and three tacky ones to skip, according to Childers.

In June, the financial services company WalletHub ranked the 50 states and DC across three categories: economic activity, economic health, and innovation potential. The Economic Policy Institute pointed to low minimum wages and unionization rates in Southern states as two factors keeping pay down. Of course, workers in some Southern states earn less than others. Using US Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics data, the analysis highlighted the average annual wages across US states as of 2022. Only two Southern states — Louisiana and West Virginia — were among the eight US states that saw their populations decline between 2022 and 2023.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Women lead the major categories at the Grammys this year – names like SZA, Taylor Swift, Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, Olivia Rodrigo and Brandy Clark top the list. If Taylor Swift wins for “Midnights,” she will become the first artist in Grammy history to win the top prize four times. (And, conversely, artists it loves to nominate but not award: both Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus have yet to receive a Grammy. I'd love to see a Cyrus win, but I’ve been burned before! She’s tied with the likes of Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus with six nominations, and I think it is her time to finally take home a trophy.

Childers grew up in East Kentucky in the shadow of the Baptist Church. At 15, Childers moved to a new school, where he coped with being the new kid by spending his lunch playing guitar. When he sings live, his eyes burn with the ferocity of a preacher, and fans hang on to every word. Childers went from opening shows with his band, the Food Stamps, to headlining the same venues in a little over a year. “There are a lot of artists out there trying to do the work,” Childers said.

Rising burnout rates, an ongoing childcare crisis and lingering effects of the pandemic have forced thousands of women to reevaluate their relationship with work. As the CEO and co-founder of Chief, a network focused on supporting and connecting women, I've seen how high-performing women have been affected by all these factors. There's a huge disconnect between what employers think women need versus what they really want, according our survey of more than 800 executive women. So what will really keep women from quitting? Offering the option of remote work, for example, doesn't guarantee that women who take advantage of it won't be passed over for stretch assignments or be left out of project conversations.
A video that has gone viral has exposed a clash between students and school officials in Idaho over whether the term “brown pride” is a symbol of cultural pride or a sign of gang affiliation. “He was telling me: 'You can’t wear it, because it has ‘brown pride’ on it. They wore rosaries, bandannas and clothing inspired by Latino heritage and brown pride, and some students brought Mexican flags, she said. Lilly Meinen, a Latina freshman at Caldwell High School, said the term “brown pride” was something students should be proud of. Two days after the protest, Caldwell High School was vandalized with a "white power" tagging and a white van was vandalized with "f--- brown pride" tagging.

A delivery driver for Amazon was found dead after an apparent animal attack Monday in Missouri, and deputies shot and killed two aggressive dogs, the Ray County sheriff said. Deputies were called to a home in Excelsior Springs, a town of around 10,000, around 7 p.m. after neighbors reported that an Amazon van had been parked there for several hours, Sheriff Ray Childers said. A man's body was found in a yard, as were two highly aggressive dogs, he said. The owners of the residence were not home, and it appears they are out of town, Childers said. In Florida in August, a U.S. postal worker died after having been attacked by five dogs, officials there said.
An Amazon delivery driver found dead in a yard in Missouri is suspected to have been mauled by two dogs. Neighbors called the sheriff's office after they noticed an Amazon van sitting outside a home for hours. When deputies arrived at the home, they encountered two dogs that were then shot and killed by a deputy. When deputies and medical arrived at the house, they found the body of the Amazon delivery driver and two dogs that looked like they were going to attack, Childers said. New York CNN Business —Authorities in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, have launched an investigation into the death of an Amazon delivery driver after he was found dead with possible dog bite injuries. Officers were called to the scene at around 7 p.m. Monday after they were told an Amazon delivery truck had been parked in front of a residential house for several hours. Authorities discovered the driver’s remains, a German shepherd and a mastiff behind the gate of a fence located near the delivery truck. An autopsy and necropsy will be performed on the driver and the dogs within the next coming days, according to Childers. It’s not clear if the dogs caused the death of the unnamed driver, but Childers noted the driver’s remains had extensive injuries.
