A Chicago police officer died following a shooting on Monday night in the East Chatham neighborhood on the city’s South Side, authorities said. As officers approached the vehicle, rapid gunfire erupted from one of the individuals, and the officer was struck multiple times, Snelling said. The wounded officer was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. CNN —A United Airlines Boeing 767 plane lost its emergency evacuation slide in mid-air Monday – and it ended up in the backyard of a home near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, officials and a witness said. When he got to the house, he dragged the slide from his backyard to the front of the home. A United flight attendant was taken to a hospital after an altercation with an unruly passenger. The Chicago Police Department told Insider it responded to reports of "a disturbance that had occurred on a plane." In a video shared by passenger Peter Kondelis, a woman on the plane appears to be screaming while standing in the aisle holding a young child. "A disruptive customer on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago was removed by law enforcement upon landing on Sunday, and one member of the flight attendant crew was taken to a hospital for evaluation," the spokesperson said.
