REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsDec 1 (Reuters) - Apple (AAPL.O) and Paramount Global (PARA.O) have discussed bundling their streaming services at a discount, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The companies have talked about offering a combined Paramount+ and Apple TV+ offering that would cost less than subscribing to both services separately, the report said, citing people familiar with the discussions. The talks are in their early stages, and it is unclear what shape the bundle could take, the report added. Apple and Paramount did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

REUTERS/Yves Herman/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsDec 1 (Reuters) - Tesla shares (TSLA.O) fell about 2% on Friday after the highly anticipated launch of its Cybertruck left analysts concerned about the electric vehicle's steep price tag and a longer wait for significant financial payoff. Musk has said Tesla was likely to reach a production rate of roughly 250,000 Cybertrucks a year in 2025. At $235.45, Tesla was set to lose about $15 billion in market valuation on Friday. "Cybertruck is more of a 'halo' product, in our view, to attract consumers to the brand for the mainstream vehicles Model 3 and Model Y," RBC Capital Markets analyst Tom Narayan said.

After apologizing for his post at the event on Wednesday, Musk unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against some of the advertisers for fleeing the platform. The Tesla (TSLA.O) chief acknowledged that an extended boycott by advertisers could bankrupt X, formerly Twitter, but suggested that the public would blame the brands and not him for a potential collapse. "We believe there is risk that more companies will stop advertising on X; at least on a short-term basis," D.A. Monthly U.S. ad revenue at X has declined at least 55% year-over-year each month since Musk bought the company in October 2022, Reuters reported last month. REUTERS/Aly Song/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 28 (Reuters) - Micron Technology (MU.O) expects first-quarter operating expenses to be higher than its prior estimates, sending the memory chipmaker's shares down 3%, even as the company projected revenue to trend towards the upper-limit of its forecast. The company on Tuesday estimated adjusted operating expenses of about $990 million in the quarter ending Nov. 30, higher that its prior expectation of $900 million, plus or minus $15 million. The higher expenses are driven by the timing of R&D costs as well as asset sales, CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said at the UBS Global Technology Conference on Tuesday. Micron said it now expects revenue to approach $4.7 billion, compared with its previous estimate of $4.4 billion, plus or minus $200 million. It previously forecast loss of $1.07 per share, plus or minus 7 cents.

The logo of NVIDIA as seen at its corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, California, in May of 2022. The company was set to erase more than $40 billion in market capitalization if losses hold, based on its current share price of $482.20. Nvidia, which has been at the forefront of artificial intelligence developments with its tailor-made graphics processing units, said its China business will take a hit from tighter export controls. Still, it forecast current-quarter revenue of $20 billion, plus or minus 2%, beating analysts' average estimate by more than $2 billion, according to LSEG data. "This disconnect between stellar earnings and an uncertain future in China is causing investor concern," said Scott Acheychek, CEO of REX Shares, which offers a fund linked to Nvidia shares.

A smartphone with a displayed NVIDIA logo is placed on a computer motherboard in this illustration taken March 6, 2023. But the red-hot market for AI chips is playing out in the context of vastly expanded U.S. export controls on what Nvidia can sell to China. Jacob Bourne, analyst at Insider Intelligence, said that those China-focused chips could consume vital research resources at Nvidia for products that could end up banned just like its first round of China market chips. Rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O) had earlier touted the quantity of high-bandwidth memory on one of its competing AI chips. Chinese tech company Huawei's (HWT.UL) AI chip is also gaining traction from local firms as U.S. pressure makes it hard to access Nvidia chips.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in San Francisco, California, U.S. November 16, 2023. Talks are happening between Altman and at least one board member, Quora CEO Adam D'Angelo, the report said. Altman could return as a director on a transitional board and the talks also involve some investors of the artificial intelligence startup. But things appeared fluid, as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told media on Monday "irrespective of where Sam is, he's working with Microsoft" and that governance at OpenAI needed to change. Other than Quora's D'Angelo, OpenAI's four-person board consisted of Tasha McCauley, Helen Toner and OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever as of Friday.

But the real focus will be on whether widening U.S. curbs on sales of its high-end chips to China could hamper that run. The results will also be a major test for the AI-powered rally that has helped drive up the U.S. stock market this year, with the Philadelphia semiconductor index (.SOX) up nearly 50% in 2023. The Biden administration last month banned China sales of the H800 and A800 chips that Nvidia had created after previous curbs on exports to the country. Reuters GraphicsCHINA CHIPSBefore the latest China export curbs, demand for Nvidia's H800 chip, a slower version of its flagship AI chip, had outpaced rivals as it was better than the alternatives. Nov 14 (Reuters) - Singapore-based Sea (SE.N) reported a surprise third-quarter loss as the Southeast Asian tech giant prioritized growth over profits by pouring money into its e-commerce business, sending its shares more than 17% lower on Tuesday. The company also expects to boost investments, it said, ahead of the key holiday shopping season in the fourth quarter. Sea has spent heavily in what is called "e-commerce live streaming", where products are sold over live videos, a model popular in China. The company posted a loss of 26 cents per share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, ending its streak of three straight profitable quarters. However, a global economic slowdown hit e-commerce and digital entertainment, forcing Sea to undertake hefty cost cuts including laying off thousands of employees.

Tesla investor Gary Black attributed the weakness in Tesla shares to chipmaker Onsemi's (ON.O) bleak forecast. "ON sells to automotive players with over 50% share of global EV sales, including 4 of the top 5 China EV makers," he said in a post on social media platform X on Monday. loadingOnsemi CEO Hassane El-Khoury said the company's top European clients were working to clear their inventory and noted that the company sees "increasing risk to automotive demand due to high interest rates." It contracted to 17.9% between July and September from 25.1% a year earlier due the EV maker's rampant price cuts, which also triggered a price war in key markets such as China.
