CNN —Joey Logano took home his third career NASCAR Cup Series championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona on Sunday. With the win, Logano becomes the 10th driver in NASCAR history to win three or more titles. An exuberant Logano told the NBC broadcast after the race, “I love the playoffs, I love it, man.”“What a race, what a Team Penske battle there at the end,” Logano continued. There was Chase Elliott, one of his best friends, who won the 2020 Cup title and is NASCAR’s five-time reigning most popular driver. And what of William Byron, who only needed half the time to pass Blaney in career wins? Then he scored his second win of the season in the round of 12 of the playoffs at Talladega Superspeedway to earn an automatic berth into the round of eight. I think that’s the biggest thing that’s helped me out this year,” Blaney said. Rushbrook loves Blaney's chances come Sunday to give Ford a second consecutive Cup title.

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Ross Chastain, the runner-up in NASCAR's championship last season, crashed out of Sunday's playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway in a collision with fellow title contenders Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell. Chastain was in a pack of cars racing to the flag that marked the end of the first stage. Busch hit the wall trying to avoid running into the back of Stenhouse, just as Chastain tried to slide through the middle to advance his position. That caused the Chevrolet from Trackhouse Racing to hit the wall and take a second hit from Bell. Chastain, who won at Talladega last year, has struggled in his four previous starts on Charlotte's hybrid road course/oval track.
